I nagged, tapping through my phone screen with force. “We have caught the criminal!” My mind shattered into a million unpickable pieces. I was doomed!

"That bitch needed to die to keep her mouth shut for good. I set the archive fire, and I arranged the helicopter malfunction too." Gavin and I exchanged a look. We had everything we needed. "You raised me to be a fake heiress, and now you're trying to get rid of me too?" Tears welled in her eyes as her voice trembled. Gideon sneered and suddenly grabbed her by the throat. "You were just a pawn. Now, you're useless." At that critical moment, Gavin and security rushed into the room and slammed Gideon to the floor, saying in an ice-cold tone, "Gideon, every one of your crimes has been recorded."

“Mostly.” I looked at Ace. “You wanna play good cop, or should I?” He was already moving. “I’ll drag him in. You make him cry.” “That’s romantic.” --- Gideon was thirty, maybe, with a bad haircut and a worse attitude. Blood stained his jeans, and he glared like we’d inconvenienced him by not shooting him outright. “You must be the infamous Brielle,” he said through gritted teeth. “Infamous has a nicer ring than wanted,” I replied sweetly. “Tell me, Gideon, you always volunteer to get shot for your boss?”

’ Logan explained to me and I nodded my head. My wolf is right. Gideon may seek help from the other kind who are good at controlling someone's mind and this might be the reason that he's in my wife's head. “You're truly smart, James. You guessed it so well.” Gideon uttered in my wife's voice. “Get out of her mind, Gideon. Show yourself to me and let's end this. You are such a cowardly creature who wants to hide instead of facing your enemy. If you want me down, then show me your f*cking face. Don't use my wife against me!” I uttered in my angry tone.

He stared, unfocused for a moment before another strained sound slipped out of his mouth and his eyes almost bulged out of their socket, jittering with fear. I smirked at his reaction. Good. Just the expression I wanted. Then I spoke slowly, my voice carrying the weight of a command, heavy with compulsion that could not be resisted. “Who are you?” I demanded. His only good eye darkened with a soft glow, caught in the power of my compulsion and his lips parted. “I am Gideon, a rogue assassin from the dark hive.”

*Zayn* I trusted Alexis with my life but the think was that I didn't trust that other guy Jonathan around her. I couldn't trust any guy around her. I mean...take a look at her. Who wouldn't want to have that woman in his bed even for once? It was the first time I was experiencing this jealousy, this green fever that made my heart pound like crazy and make my mind build up scenarios that only made me more anxious than I already was.

That night, as Jason shut his eyes, he saw flashes of himself, filled with rage, standing over a man he had shot dead. Other images of five men flashed in, lying lifeless in different positions, at different locations. He felt relieved, breathing the metallic scent of their blood before walking out of there. He was dressed as Black Moon and the wind played with his black jacket which was as dark as a heart void of forgiveness. He opened his eyes, watching the ceiling. "I'm almost there, Rose." He smiled and averted his gaze at Stacy before laying a soft kiss on her cheeks.

And I was caught immediately. "Where are you going, honey?" "I can't believe you, Sophia!" Charlie grabbed Sophia. Naturally, Christopher was holding me. The Lawson brothers were here. Mr. Quincy tried to come to our aid, but they bought him over with money. The club owner and his bodyguards left. I was struggling the whole way, and I was sobering up. They took us back to the villa, and to my horror, they easily cracked the passcode. "What are you doing?"

There was no anger on his face, only deep, weary insight. "She's dead," I rasped, the sound alien to my own ears. Gideon walked in, picked up my discarded clothes, and draped them neatly over a chair. He didn't ask for details; he already knew everything from the Pack communications. "Yes," Gideon said calmly, as if discussing the weather. "You lost your Mate, your prime suspect, and your only living witness to the larger conspiracy." I slammed my fist into the stone floor. "I did everything right! I granted her treatment, I gave her a chance to live! It was the Rogue! They chose to jump!"

“I don’t think it works like that.” He looked thoughtful for a moment and said, “But since you want Jason in jail so badly, I guess I’ll have to get involved. I usually avoid people like him altogether, but you’re right. He shouldn’t keep getting away with this.” He leaned closer. “There’s someone I know. A detective. His name is Brown. He’s desperate to bring Jason down. His younger sister’s best friend was one of Jason’s victims. The girl took her own life. Brown’s sister has been wrecked by it ever since—she started using substances, spiraling. Brown has never gotten over it.”
