Jennas Book Club Novels & Stories

The invitation arrives via email. It's from Lisette. The subject line says: "Book Club - You Should Come." And the message is typical Lisette. Direct. No preamble. Just: "I started a book club. First month we're reading your book. You should come read to us." I call her immediately. "You started a book club and didn't tell me?" I ask. "I'm telling you now. It's six women. We meet once a month. This month we're reading your book because it's important and it's brilliant and I want to talk about it with people who will actually understand why it matters."

I sat on Xavier's lap, Dane and Theo on either side of me as we chatted with their parents, Marilyn already popping one of the faerie bottles and pouring four glasses. She handed one to me and I blinked in surprise. "If you're joining Book Club, you'll need to get use to the buzz." She winked. My ears twitched and they all chuckled. "You'd allow me to join your Book Club?" I asked, Xavier squeezing me sweetly. The mother's smiled at me, sitting shoulder to shoulder beside Dane. "Theo says you're reader of classics." I smiled and nodded. "I love them." Thena pulled out a bag from under the table.

"Don't trust anyone if you don't want to die silly!" That was what Dannie had told her a moment ago. Ah, this might indeed be the first time Sena has met these people face to face. But to be honest, she already knew and had information about them that she got from Dannie. Sena almost laughed when she remembered a book that Dannie gave her entitled 'Walters Gang'. The book has a cover of 4 cubs eating honey. Anyone who saw the book would have thought that it was a children's book, not an important book detailing the ins and outs of the Walters family.

Yazed returned to his mother’s room and found Jenny sitting quietly next to Amber. She was reading a book about business. His mother remained asleep, to his surprise. "Oh, you're already here." Jennelyn greeted the young man warmly. If she was in a different situation, she would have thrown away the book she was just holding. She didn't particularly like reading and she didn't understand anything in that book. Another thing that annoyed her was that Amber was obviously just pretending to be asleep and didn't want to talk to her.

Gwen shrugs and thinks for a moment. "Don't be afraid to make noise. Having a silent partner is awkward and will make her think you're not enjoying it." she says. I grab my notebook out of my bag and flip to the page with my clit diagram, scribbling a few notes underneath it. We eventually disband and Gwen points out that we only have a few more weeks of book club. I find myself slightly disappointed at the thought. I've come to really enjoy these nights. "You think you would want to do another book club?" I ask Jack. He shrugs in response.

As ever, Jenny is in the library. What is she looking at? As he watches, she slips a book from the shelves. 'Just Six Numbers.' Martin Rees. Mr Kalkowski nods a small satisfied nod. An interest in astronomy is almost bound to lead to an interest in cosmology. Still unaware of his presence, Jenny sits at the table with her book, humming a soft tune. "Good morning Jenny. You're sounding very cheerful this morning." She startles and twists, for one moment the fear showing....

The call came when Jenny was already preparing for bed, she already had her Korean face mask on. Her short brunette hair was already pushed back, away from her eyes. She had already soaked up in the tub of warm water, bubbles and essential oils. That night was meant to be special, it was supposed to be an early night. That night, Jenny had decided not to watch the dating reality television show late into the night, no. She had decided not to waste her time scrolling on social media, no. Beneath were flawless downward-turned lips she knew Sean satisfyingly feasted on now and then. A grim stare in her direction had Gianna turning her face in embarrassment. He caught her staring. Should she call it a miracle that Sean hadn't looked her way all day or gotten two meters close to her? Was it due to the effect of the slap or simply a bite of guilt? Whatever it was, she hoped it lasted a while longer. "We have a book club going on, I believe you must have heard about it." Gianna began. "The book donation thingy?" "Yeah, we campaign for you to join us. If you're interested that is," she offered. "New ideas for improvements are welcome at any time." She added, for effect.

all I wanted to do was read and watch movies with Jenny. Breck met me outside class just like he always did. We decided on our next time to meet at the park and go run… it was our thing now. Jenny was more and more suspicious of us because we had secret meetings every other day. But if it kept her away from the truth I didn’t mind it. So after class I asked Jenny if we could go to a book store and her eyes lit up. “Oh my gosh yes!! Are you a book girl?? I had no idea! I guess because we have zero time to read but we will make time. Let’s go!” She said as she was already halfway out the door.

He nodded as he picked up a small stack of papers and settled into a club chair that was on the opposite side of the carefully waxed mahogany end table that bordered the sofa. “Are there a lot of humans?” she persisted. Jasper shrugged as he focused his attention on the first paper. “I only met Cora and Bess,” he said. “Then, I was kept in the infirmary the entire time. This is a big place.” “It’s funny that he keeps humans on staff,” she mused. “Cora is his staff, correct?” Jasper looked up from his paper. “Why the interest in Cora?” he asked. Lila shrugged and gave a mock yawn. She didn’t want to admit to him that she’d noticed the way he’d admired Cora and was jealous.
