“Those flower ribbons… I used to love them back then.”
Gio glanced over, then pulled the car to the side without hesitation. He rolled down the window, called the vendor over, and bought the prettiest one deep red silk roses with tiny pearl centers.
When the light turned green, he pulled over again, turned to me.
“Hold still.”
He reached over, gently tucked the ribbon into my damp hair, pinning it just above my ear.
“Perfect,” he said.
I smiled as we drove away. The city lights were shining brightly, casting a soft glow against the window.
