As he gave her his brightest smile, he pointed in front. “The train is here. Let’s chat on the way.” The door of the train slid open. Time did not allow Jessica to think, so she got on the train.

The turret spun wildly, firing a plasma bolt into its neighboring gun before sparking out. Dax and Reaper moved with surgical precision, picking off the remaining automated defenses with concentrated fire. Within thirty seconds, the roof of the train was clear, littered with the smoking wreckage of Board tech. "Defenses down!" Reaper called out, slamming a fresh magazine into his rifle. "Good," Dax said, looking forward. "Because here comes our stop." I looked past the front of the train. The Citadel was dead ahead a massive, brutalist spire of black glass and steel. And hovering right above it, tethered by thick refueling umbilicals, was the Aegis-Class Destroyer.

"The capacitors are melting. When it goes, it’s going to send a 'Flare' to the Weaver. It’ll pinpoint our exact coordinates down to the meter." "Then we make sure we aren't at those coordinates," Enzo said. He pointed toward a moving freight train, its low, rhythmic rumble vibrating through the ground. It was a slow-moving steel snake, heading south toward the industrial heart of the city. "That’s our exit." "We have to jump?" I asked, my heart doing a frantic dance. "I'll catch you," he promised.
