You didn’t say you were bringing a goddamn goddess.” I smiled politely. “It’s nice to meet you.” “The pleasure,” Raymond said, taking my hand and holding it a beat longer than a handshake required, “is absolutely mine. Jared, how did you manage this?” “Raymond.” The woman at the table said his name in a flat tone that had clearly been worn down by years of use. “I’m just saying…” “You’re always just saying.” She stood and extended her hand to me properly. “I’m Claire. Please ignore him. We’ve been trying to for years and it hasn’t worked, but the effort is ongoing.”

“Mandy, I doubt you are stable enough to even walk on both your feet, talk more of dancing. Come on, sit down and maybe take a break from the glass.” She frowned as if I had said something outrageous. “Boo - hoo. Five years in New York has made Claire a bore!!” More like it made me more responsible, but I wasn't going to argue with Mandy, especially not a drunk version of her. She grabbed Rosa's hand and they both walked — staggered towards the gathering of sweaty people who were just shamelessly grinding against each other to the beat of the music. Heh. I finished the content of my mug and stood up.

But was soon pulled out of that pleasant memory when Sienna snapped her fingers in front of her. “Woman. Snap out of it.” Sienna was smirking at her when Clair looked at her friend. “Thinking about your guy?” she asked in a teasing manner. Clair’s face heated up as she felt that it turned beet red. But she cleared her throat and looked Sienna right in the eyes. “Actually. Yes.” She boldly confessed. “And let’s go. I think Isla has had enough of saliva swapping for now.” She smirked. “Okay..... Don’t say that again Clair. Please.” Sienna pretended to gag as she followed Clair. Giggling, she walked up to the couple who sat glued to the bench.

“Yes, yes. Business first. That shows real intent to resolve things.” As she spoke, Susan gave my shoulder a patronizing pat and smiled with satisfaction. “Claire, I knew you’d see reason. All these years, you’ve poured your heart and soul into this family, and we’ve never forgotten it. James is so fortunate to have a wife as understanding and generous as you.” James looked at me like a parent finally seeing a child behave.

Claire's POV "It's a pleasure to finally meet you, Claire. Your mother has told me so much about you." I forced a polite smile as I settled into my seat across from James Kim, the blind date my mother had so enthusiastically arranged. The restaurant was upscale—white tablecloths, crystal glasses, and waitstaff that seemed to materialize and disappear with practiced invisibility. It was clearly meant to impress. "Likewise," I replied automatically, though of course my mother had told me almost nothing about him beyond his profession and family connections.

"Fine. This is dumb, no offense, but I’ll help you." Lexie didn’t respond. "Like I’d let you do this alone," Claire added, rolling her eyes. Silence fell between them for a few moments before they both broke into laughter. "God, I wish you weren’t serious about this. But I know you are," Claire said, wiping tears from her eyes. "I am," Lexie confirmed. "So, how do you plan to do this?" "Oh my God, Ram Jordan, right?" Lexie smiled, pretending to be surprised as she spotted Ram at the restaurant.

I watch as Claire and Rawls exchange glances, their hands brushing under the table. "So," I begin, clearing my throat. "How have you two been?" Claire looks at me, her eyes hopeful. "Good, Dad," she says, her voice tentative. "Really good." Rawls' hand squeezes her thigh under the table, a silent message of support. "We've had a lot to deal with," he adds, his voice carefully neutral. He definitely has kept his word and not said anything to him about our meeting and what information we have on Jonathan.

“Are you kidding me right now? Wait a minute, even though she's found you who happens to be her mate, she still intends to become Luna in my pack? Aren't you too foolish to let a woman who is your mate become Luna to an Alpha who isn't her mate?” “Of course I wasn't happy about it. But then, seeing that makes her happy, I was willing to fulfill her wish.” “Fulfill her wish by killing someone in the process, huh? Tell me, where the fuck is Clair?!” I thundered in my Alpha tone. “Sh…she is in an apartment on the outskirts of town.” “Shit! Now listen to me, I want you to mind link whoever you sent to get Clair killed to stop whatever they are plotting to do, immediately.”

So I clap along with the crowd. I wasn’t in the mood to dance, so I slowly stepped out of the dance floor without Cole noticing. I went to get another juice box when I noticed something familiar. Scratch that, it was someone. James. He was straddling a girl and trying to kiss her. I gasp. Okay this is just wrong, I have to stop this. That girl is trying to push him, but James seems to be too drunk to feel anything. I walk up to them. “Come on, one kiss won’t hurt..” He slurs.

Claire looks terrified as she ducks away from Bert who keeps trying to grab her. "just come with me Claire I will take care of you better then him",he points to me I send a rogue out the window hard. "Josh is my mate Bert we already told you this and I'm not going anywhere with you",he slaps my mate and I lose it. I throw him out my house through a window sending glass flying everywhere. I stepped out after making sure Claire is okay and beat his ass bloody.
