John didn’t leave the room all day where the monitoring center was set up. Sitting there, he stared at every screen, every image, searching, almost desperately, for the woman in the hat.
“Where is she?” he asked impatiently, drumming his fingers on the arms of his chair. “Nothing yet?”
Carlson, an experienced veteran, didn’t even take his eyes off the screens as he replied, with the calmness of someone who had been through similar situations before.
