Rosette’s POV Everything went silent. Not quiet. Not calm. Gone. The pressure vanished. The resistance disappeared. The endless structure of loops and fragments— Collapsed. And for a single, suspended moment— There was nothing. The Fall Then— I dropped. Not physically. Not in a way I could understand. But I felt it— A sharp pull— A violent return— And suddenly— Air slammed back into my lungs. Back to Reality I staggered. My knees nearly buckled—

Coming when I knew that they wouldn't be here. I was still deep in thought when I sat on one of they ledges of the rooftop and slipped my feet under the steel, criss-cross fence. I gripped tightly onto the fence as I looked down to the ground below. Surprisingly, I was unfazed and it seems like I've finally overcome my altophobia. "Hey, Maddie. Be careful. If you fall, I won't be able to catch you." I was startled when someone called out to me and when I turned around I saw...

He gave me a look—half warning, half something else entirely—then stepped out, and I followed. The building smelled like mold and dust. The elevator didn’t work, so we took the stairs. Seven flights. By the time we got to the top, my legs were shaking. Jillian noticed. He didn’t say a word, but when I faltered on the last step, his hand reached out and gently gripped my elbow. He steadied me. And for the briefest moment, our eyes met—something soft in his, something unsure in mine. “You okay?” he asked.

Zayden jerked his head up A car was stopped right in front of him. He tried to swerve, but the wet, icy road betrayed him. The tires lost grip. The steering wheel spun under his hands. The vehicle skidded across the slick pavement Then everything flipped. Metal screamed. Glass shattered. The world turned upside down. And then... Silence. Cold. Dark. The snow outside continued falling, calm and steady… as his crumpled car lay still on the side of the road. *****

He was right, he never said he loved her books. We fell into a comfortable silence as we both got roped into the magical world of reading. I was deeply drawn to the world of fallen angels, love, betrayal and so much heartache that by the time I was halfway through the second book, tears were rolling down my face and I couldn't stop them. "What's wrong?" Nick asked as I sniffed. "This book, I can't believe that Luce and Daniel went through so much just so they could be together," I replied as I wiped my tears.

Jeremy needs to lay down as soon as possible. Turning, Roy fished the pockets of his slacks to find his iPhone but a tug to his sleeve diverted his attention. Roy turned back to freeze―as something soft petal like texture brushed against his lips. Roy's throat parched and his eyes rounded to see Jeremy's lips lose contact with his. Jeremy also lost his consciousness, falling against Roy's chest―the very next second.

CHAPTER 45 It felt like I was falling into nothing. While I was going down, the leaves were sucked upwards. This is a dream. A dream of falling into nothing. And it’s tiring because I can’t close my eyes inside this dream. I fought Skip into a duel. He hurt me a lot during the process since he’s winning. But I did not let myself lose this time. I was mad by all of the words he said. He drove me furiously for me to transform into someone I never thought I would’ve.

[The Abyss] The fall was not a scream; it was a sudden, violent silence. Gravity tore the breath from my lungs as I plunged into the dark, the silver briefcase clutched against my ribs like a cold, metal child. For a heartbeat, the world was only the whistle of the wind and the terrifying, red strobe of the proximity trigger on my wrist. Then, a weight slammed into me.

The fall was more than something he could control. He couldn’t stop the scream that forced itself out of his mouth as he found himself struggling against the force of gravity. His body hit the window guards from the top most floor and his head also hit one of the opened window glasses and continued downward until it got to the middle floor at the fourth second where it hit another opened glass window, all this slowing down his movement and increasing the pains of his fall. He closed his eyes in anticipation of his death as he continued falling.

⸻ That Night In bed, wrapped in soft sheets and half-asleep limbs, Elena whispered into the dark: “I submitted a new series to the gallery.” Adrian’s voice was low. “Yeah?” “They want to feature it. In a permanent collection.” He smiled in the dark. “Proud of you.” “There’s more.” She hesitated. Then: “I named the series Falling Between Us.” Adrian turned toward her, fully awake now. “And why that?” “Because everything we thought was a fall…” she whispered, “turned out to be a way forward.” He kissed her forehead.
