Journal For Books Read Novels & Stories

Maya says. "You always write it down," Lily says. "Somebody has to," Maya says. The book sells in the way that true things sell — slowly at first, then steadily, then to people who press it into other people's hands with the specific urgency of someone who has found something that says a thing they couldn't say themselves. It is not a famous book. It is not reviewed in the places that make books famous. It is reviewed in three journals — one legal, one policy, one literary — with the specific appreciation of readers who recognize something real.

The ladies all giggle and Julie stands, handing a new bookmark to each of us. "Yes. We figured we'd get you ones that suited you a little better." she says. The new one is dark blue with gold lettering that says 'Real men read dirty books'. I smile and look over at Ev who's showing Harper his excitedly. "These are great. Thank you." I say just as Bri nudges me. "Oh! Tell them your joke, love!" Harper says excitedly. Ev rolls his eyes before addressing the group.

A familiar book for the ride back. Jeffrey leaned closer. “What are you reading?” I didn’t look up. “Philip’s Room by Raven Black.” He looked stunned. “No fucking way! For real?”

Normal. I pushed open the heavy wooden door, and the scent of old books and ancient knowledge hit my nasal holes. The room was filled with shelves, lined with volumes of books and dusty manuscripts. The atmosphere felt charged with anticipation, as if the room itself held the weight of generations past. I let my fingers slide along the spines of the books as my eyes scanned the titles until something caught my attention—a worn, leather-bound journal hidden among the others. Its pages were weathered and yellowed with time. It looked like it had been preserved for literal ages and belonged to another time. It seemed like a shrine to the secrets of my family that I had been aching to learn.

It felt like she was still here with me, in this room, and for a moment, I forgot about everything else. I heaved a heavy sigh and turned around, but something caught my attention on her bookshelf. There, nestled between the works of Jane Austen, was a small leather-bound journal that I had never seen before. I picked it up, feeling its soft cover under my fingertips and carefully flipping through the pages. As I read her delicate handwriting, my heart ached with both joy and sadness. This journal was a window into her thoughts, her feelings, her dreams. It was like a piece of her that I had never known before.

Bella is really going to benefit from someone who is really laid back and able to calm her down. Challenge this week is going to be a bit different. I want to know what other books you are reading/recommend, specifically on GoodNovel (I'll ask about other apps next challege). I'm currently reading Hatred with Benefits (updated daily) and love it. Would highly recommend the Six-Pack Series, Mated to the Alpha Twins, Hard and Deep, and Bully Me as well. Looking for 15 comments for an extra update. Leave me some love and let me know what you think. See you soon!

Classics and reference texts and medical journals that probably cost a fortune. She pulled out a book at random. Some dense thing about cardiovascular surgery. Flipped through it without really reading. Put it back. Her hand caught on something behind where the book had been. She reached in and felt paper. Pulled it out. A medical journal. Thin and stapled. This one was folded open to an article about pharmaceutical interventions for wolf suppression.

The library felt like a gift, and that was what made it dangerous. I moved slowly along the shelves, trailing my fingers across the spines of books. The contact sent a faint shiver through me, not pleasure exactly, but recognition. Something inside me loosened, not relief and not comfort, but a thin strand of control I had not realized was missing. The titles were familiar in tone if not in detail. Business. Finance. Strategy. Leadership. Negotiation. The kinds of books men like Jaden collected to justify their decisions after the fact, volumes that framed dominance as intelligence and conquest as foresight.

Please tell Alice that I will be missing the training today because there is something important that I need to attend to. ‘You sure you’re okay?’ She asked again; this time her voice was filled with concern. ‘Yes,’ I replied, and this time she accepted it. I stood from the reclining chair and looked around the shelves. Most of the shelves were filled with different books, mostly fiction, but some rare academic books were no longer in print. I continued to look for the other journals, but couldn’t find any. I was about to give up and try again another day, when I saw a book that seemed misplaced because it was placed upside down, and one of the words on the title was misspelled.
