When they were back at Grandview Manor, Julian went to the study for a video conference while Willow helped him pack his luggage. The three-day trip to Yarrowmere was mainly for business. Willow packed two suits, three shirts, and some accessories for Julian. It was cold in Yarrowmere, so she specifically chose a thin and long down jacket. As she moved his luggage, Julian's conference ended and he walked into the bedroom. Seeing the open closet, he ran his slender fingers across a row of clothes and flashed a light smile. "Buy me some new shirts when you have the time. It's been half a year since you got me anything new."

But in the Blackwood estate, there was no such thing as hiding. ​"The library is a drafty place for a girl in such a thin sweater." ​I jumped, the book slipping from my fingers and thudding onto the Persian rug. Julian was leaning against the doorframe, his suit jacket discarded, his white shirt sleeves rolled up to his elbows. He looked like he owned the air I was breathing. ​"I like the quiet," I said, my heart already beginning its frantic rhythm.

Old grudges, forged in blood across generations, began to thaw under the weight of lived mercy. In that blending of rites and peoples, Tarwood's greatest strength was born. It was nice to see. “What are you reading?” she asked. Julia filled her in on the newest novel she had found stashed away in an old cabinet in the back of the house. It was an extremely exciting romance story that Julia said she could hardly put down. Once Cordia was up to speed on what had happened so far, Julia began to read the rest of the story to her. After an hour or so of reading about pirates, treasures, and how Sir Camion would love Miss Sicilia to the end of time, Julia paused. “My throat is dry,” she said. She coughed a little, which alarmed Cordia.

So calm and gentle that one would think he was nobody dangerous and had nothing to hide. Rising from her seat, Julie approached that shelve and gave a hard stare at the book. And the longer she stared at it, she did not know why but it seem to be becoming more and more mysterious, nearly enticing, in her eyes. It was really strange as it was just a book and there was no way it would be about him… right? Was this because she was just thinking too much? That must be the case, she thought, sighing. Still, she reached out to retrieve the book when all of a sudden, she heard the soft sound of the doors closing and muted falls of footsteps coming towards her.

Four Days Later After my little sexcapade with both Alex and Lucus within the master playroom, I couldn’t seem to stop myself from wanting nor craving more. Three days later, a taxi dropped Julie in front of the big house. The thirty-five years old woman felt ridiculous dressing a short black dress and white shoes recommended by Stephanie. She walked slowly through the huge garden, but that time, it did not look charming to her. She frowned when she saw that the door was open. "Hello?" Julie inquired when she came in. She looked seriously around and smoothed her wavy hair. The living room was so quiet that she could listen to her steps on the white marble floor.

“And as for our arrangement, don’t worry. I won’t bother you. Just treat me like an invisible guest here. I’ll also pay for my food here, okay?” Jared raised his eyebrows. Just as he was about to say something, his brother interrupted him. “Make sure you’ll do that! Don’t think my brother will be interested in you just because you find him handsome and noble.” Julia stood up and brushed her hair with her fingers. Her gaze shifted from Shiloh to Jared. “Mr. Brooks, I solemnly promise that I will never fall in love with you in the future,” she announced. However, the gloomy look on Jared’s face didn’t escape her eyes.
