“I was,” John whispered, leaning forward, his eyes burning with a new, singular purpose, “But they killed my wife. Nelly and Raymond… they think they can discard people like trash. I’m done being their legal shield. I’m going to bring Raymond down, but I can’t do it from inside a courtroom for now. I need to set the playground beforehand.”
Clinton scoffed, refusing to believe that the man who had profited from Regina’s father’s death was suddenly a crusader for justice, “You expect me to trust a man who’s spent ten years burying bodies?”
