“You are blinded by your attachment to him.”
“No.” I step closer, my tone sharp enough to cut. “You are blinded by your own arrogance.”
Her eyes narrow. “Mind your tongue.”
I don't.
Instead, I tilt my chin up, my voice calm but firm. “For over a century, Achilles was the one thing keeping Valentine grounded. He was more than a friend. He was family. And now that he’s gone, Valentine is unraveling. You may not understand that, but I do.”
Her lips press into a thin line. “That man was nothing but an unruly distraction.”
