Kael stepped closer instantly. “Lower it,” he said. “I’m not doing anything!” “Yes, you are.”

Luna stood on the stone balcony of the Great Hall, watching him stride across the courtyard, his tall frame cloaked in black, his hair long and dark, his body rippling with unspent power. Carolina blinked twice. “I’m here to release stress,” Kingsley went on, his voice low but clear. “And to relax my mind. That’s it.” Sage nodded with the same calm approval she gave everyone else. “Welcome, K.” But Carolina was already leaning in close to Katherine, whispering behind her hand. “Did he just say K. Frank?”

Striding over to Knox, I locked eyes with him and reached out mentally, "Can you hear me?" His eyes flashed a bright blue, a silent confirmation of our connection. "Look, Kael's on edge right now and needs me. But this doesn't mean you don't have a chance, Knox. He might panic over this, but I won't let him get physical with you, okay?" Knox subtly nodded, a flash of gratitude in his eyes.
