“But you know what I mean.”
Letting out a shaky breath, Kate tried to hold back the tears that lined her eyes, sucking in her lower lip to still her quaking chin. “The scariest part of all of that was…” she trailed off, the buildings disappearing, leaving nothing but a blanket of blackness for her to gaze upon. Through the window, the reflection of teary, red eyes stared back at her and she shook away the memory of dread that coursed through her. “Was the possibility of having… having to go on…” Fat tears rolled down her cheeks, the back of her hand lifting quickly to swipe them away. “Without you. I don’t want to… I can’t even begin to imagine how empty I’d feel without you.”
