The heat was driving him crazy. Had this been the past, Thomas would have thrown himself at Zayn and beat the living daylight out of him. But now, he was too petrified by the imminent threat to do it right now. The severe beatdown he suffered just now had solidified his fear, and now the last thing Thomas wanted was to see Daryl Richmond again. He was panicking to the point of tears. Being in the bible belt everyone spoke like that, but this girl hadn’t given him the fire and brimstone act. He saw the truth in her eyes, and that was what he was afraid. When Thomas asked to speak with her mother, she became very quiet and whispered that he couldn’t because she was already dead.

Driven by his self-distrust, Thomas flees from Selina, abandoning the rescue mission for the sake of his survival. The exit door is just a few steps away from Thomas; he only needs a little push to open it and be freed from Selina’s catch.

Neil said glaring at him. Thomas was terrified now. He felt as if he could his pants would be wet at any moment. But he somehow managed himself, gulped down his saliva. And said, stammering, "Th…tha..thats m.. my.. eld.. no.. I mean that's my younger daughter. Eld…elder's over their" while pointing at Katherine. Katherine was confused. She was trying to understand what was happening but everytime she tried she failed and was petrified more than before. Neil seemed like a monster to her. But little did she know that monster had come for her.

He had crossed the final hurdle and finally done something which would cause him to lead his soul directly in the depths of hell.
