He was lanky and a little shy, still trying to figure out where he fit between all the chirping and chaos. “I still can’t wrap my head around it,” Connor said, scrubbing shampoo through his hair. “You’re seriously just gonna let her pick some random guy? You really don’t care?” Ryder shrugged, running his hands through his hair. “Yeah. She wants it, so whatever. It’s not like I’m into dudes. I’m not gay.” Drew barked a laugh. “Not gay, but letting a guy fuck you?”

“Seems like it is going to be a huge rainfall.” I cursed silently and ran out of the house. It was the wrong time for rain to fall. Why was nature against me all of a sudden? Katie came from a long time of medical werewolves. She was the first werewolf in her family to break the tradition. She had joined the Delta Force as a Cadet and she was the first person that I was partnered to. Katie was excellent at close quarter combats with a dangerousknowledge and expertise on pressure points. She could paralyze anyone in seconds with a few strikes of her fingers and palm.

"I'm not going to get mad at you. Trust me, after the years of shit you've pulled, I'm pretty immune to your surprising me. I mean, I kind of want to slap you silly every time you enter one of those stupid races, but I haven't yet, have I?" Riley gave her a crooked smile. "Good point." "So, what's up, Grim Reaper?" Katie only called her that when Riley got serious, which wasn't very often. They usually reserved Katie's weekends home for good times. Riley sighed and glanced at Katie's lovely, blond profile. Evelyn's POV "I, Alpha Kyle Turner, reject you, Evelyn Sanders, as my mate." Alpha Kyle hoarse voice boomed in my ears making me freeze on my tracks, his voice laced with disgust. Crack! A cracking sound resounded inside my body and I felt as if a part of me was forcefully torn and taken away. My wolf howled in pain but there was nothing I could do about it. Tears flowed down my face as the pain became immeasurable, increasing with each second to the point I was unable to tolerate it. I could care less about the gazes on me. I was already used to it.

Alexander carried Katie back to Xena’s tent, carefully placing her on the sleeping bag. “Does anything like that happen to her often?” Ryle asked him. “She looked… really lost. Even introduced herself as someone else.” Alexander shook his head. “Although, I’ve only known her for a few days.” “A few days?” Ryle exclaimed, astonished. “Do you even know her at all?” “Not enough,” he sighed. "Let us through!" Eclair and Arianne rushed into the tent, shining the light from their phones on Katie's face.

Ryder answers, resting his head against mine making me smile. “You’re going to be so good for our people. I’m sure Kitty will be happy to help as well. She has always talked about how she tried to help her people here, before running,” I kiss Ryder’s shoulder, and hold his hand doing my best to relax his nerves. “I know she has a lot of history here. I spoke to her some last night and know she plans to help out however she can,” Ryder nods his head, shifting to press his lips to my forehead.

She bites her lower lip— white teeth sinking into red flesh— then turns, smiling at the bartender. "Whisky please. Rocks." Her gaze returns to me, and she raises her eyebrows. "Make that two," I say, not leaving her gaze. A minute later he places the drinks in front of us, her hand immediately reaching out to bring it to her lips. "Katherine," she says after taking a slow sip, "but my friends call me Kat." "Adam, but everyone calls me Emilio." "I think I'll stick with Adam," she replies haughtily, daring me to tell her otherwise. I lean in closer to her, trailing her body with my eyes again. I can't stop looking at her legs. She notices, and again raises an eyebrow.

“I—I need a moment. I think the room is just a little too warm.” Ryder looks at me sharply, concern flickering in his expression. “Do you want me to—” “I’m fine,” I cut in quickly. “Just the bathroom.” “I’ll go with her,” Katie offers before Ryder can argue. “I was heading there myself anyway.” He hesitates for a second, but then nods. “Alright. Don’t take too long—things will start soon.” Katie links her arm with mine as we walk away, her steps graceful and unhurried.
