The tour bus was moving fast on the dark highway. It was two in the morning. Jax Ryder sat on the big black leather couch in the back lounge. His shirt was open, showing his tattooed chest and hard stomach. He was 34 years old and the famous lead singer of the band *Vicious*. He was also a married man. Riley Kane, 22 years old, walked into the lounge. She was the new backup singer and the daughter of the band’s manager. She wore a tight black crop top that showed her flat stomach and hard nipples. Her short jeans hugged her round ass tightly.

The BBQ was in full swing and my place looked like a street fair. Now Kat's BBQs don't stay in the backyard, people spread out all over the place, the kids are running wild back here, and the women hang out in the house mostly. I had two of the trips strapped onto me while Cady was with her new best friend Todd. The women had pretty much left the babies with their dads and Drake, Cy and the pothead were manning the grills.

“Maybe I did. But I know what I felt when Xane reached for him. It was like every part of me screamed danger.” Ryder stood up slowly, nodding to himself. “Alright. I’ll keep an eye out. Maybe see if anything about Xane checks out weird. Family records. Transfer timing.” I let out a breath. “Thanks.” He clapped my shoulder. “In the meantime, try not to kill the guy.” “No promises,” I muttered. Ryder laughed. “Seriously, Kael. Keep it tight. You losing your temper might do more harm than good if you’re right.”

I wanted to tell her that even if this woman was beautiful, her beauty was nothing compared to hers. "I apologize for being late, I just came from a charity event," she said as she sat down beside Atticus. She must be the Luna. "I'm Nicole Hutton," she introduced herself, "First Lady of Hutton Empire." "It's a pleasure to meet you." Rayne smiled at her. "Forgive my question, but you're not a vampire, am I right?" Nicole asked Rayne. "No, I'm not. I'm a gifted human," Rayne answered her.

Ryan break this pictu- My eyes get terrifically wide as I see the playboy swimsuit calendar on his table. The girl in the bikini is Kelly Clawford, the model I slept with last week. Is he into girls? Is he straight? I ask myself. My wolf is swimming in jealousy, envying the calendar bikini girl. Ryan, tear this calendar and that dog's picture, break all the computers and tables. Dakota screams in my head. "I have an extra if you like it this much." I knew who said that because my heartbeats instantly fasten hearing his smug voice. I turn my head, glaring at my mate. Does this human even know who I am?

Ryder snapped and Kim flinched. Few seconds of silence later, she took her bag and left his office in anger. Ryder collapsed in his chair out of sheer exhaustion. He would be lying if he said he understood a word of what was being said by Kim. He didn't. He didn't know what was going on. He couldn't even understand the possible connection between Holly and Kim. A message entered his phone and he checked it with a frown. His eyes drooped out of exhaustion and he sighed. It was Catalina. She claimed she needed to crash at his place for a while and although Ryder had been very hesitant. He decided to help her and let her stay a night before he found a semi permanent place for her to stay.

Ryder laughed and looked up at the ceiling, shaking his head. “What does your father do?” He touched a strand of her hair with his free hand and curled it around his finger. Katie’s cheeks warmed. “My father works at a car wash, and my mother is a teacher,” she mumbled out. "So you're here on a scholarship?" Alecia nodded. Ryder placed his hand on her shoulder and pulled her towards him, leaning into her. His embrace was strong, warm, and all too capturing. “I like intelligent women.”

“They found you.” He turned away from Xanth and quickly got on the horse, Xanth took hold of the reins to keep the horse from moving forward, then he looked at Ryder with a tight frown. “What are you doing?” “I will ride the rest of the way.” “But you’re not in the best health to do so.” Ryder looked down at Xanth and repeated. “I will ride the rest of the way to Kilead.” * * * * * * *

'At least I'm sure that she won't be mad at me in the future…' “Thank you for answering, Katie!” “Ryder.” Katie murmured. Not hearing Katie's response clearly, Phyllis asked, “Pardon?” “The person that I like is Ryder,” she confessed. Phyllis' jaw dropped. She recalled Katie's magazine interview a few years ago. It was about her ideal man. And in that article, Ryder, the rapper of Luna, was perfectly described. Though she did not name him as her crush, it was obvious that Ryder is her ideal type.

Ryder grinned, as he had his arms around me, so I didn’t fall off him. “Sorry, it’s been a while since I’ve been able to see you, what are you doing here?” I asked. “Well, Julius said I could have the afternoon off, think that had something to do with Kitana saying I needed to be able to spend time with you.” Ryder explained that Kitana was giving him a telling off, whilst I giggled away as that was very much like Kitana. “Would you like to go for a run?” He asked, Sapphire started to bounce around at the thought of being able to shift and go for a run.
