she asked, her tone shifting just a bit, not angry yet, but edged with confusion.
“I mean don’t,” I repeated, my voice steady, not raised, not defensive. “Focus on something else.”
She leaned forward slightly this time, her elbows resting on her knees, her eyes narrowing just a fraction as she looked at me properly. “Like what?”
“Kagemoto Kazama,” I said simply. “He just woke up, didn’t he?”
There was a small pause, just enough for it to register.
Then she exhaled lightly, leaning back again, a faint smile forming on her lips like she already had everything under control. “You don’t need to worry about that.”
