“What kind?” Before she could speak, the blond, Teague, stood up next to Keane. Muscles rippled and flexed beneath his white tee shirt, and it took me a moment to focus again on the words. “The game is called The Hunt,” he explained, drawing what looked like a half-empty bottle of wine from beneath his chair. He held it up and popped the cork, and I breathed a sigh of relief. Whatever the wine had to do with it, I could do it easily.

“Well, sex, Makya. If you must know. Cernunnos is Lord of the hunt but he too has some role in blessing such things as a Stag in rutt.” Makya coughed, embarrassed. “I see. Ok, well, I will get the dogs and we should be able to make the hodzana way station before dark.” His warmth left me as he turned to harness the dogs back to the sled. I wrapped my arms around myself, not truly cold, for the new dress was truly warm, but simply missing the contact. When Maya and Jiro came bounding up to me I couldn’t help but smile and pet their fuzzy heads before helping to get them harnessed up.

How the hell was he able to keep this calm even though I had refused to answer his questions? What I knew about Alphas was that they would get angry if they asked one a question and then failed to get a reply from the person. A perfect example was Alpha Kyle, he would make sure to torture me at every little thing even though I didn't know if that was how he treated the remaining members of his pack. "Evelyn." Alpha Ethan's voice came again, as calm as the sea which sent shivers down my spine. I couldn't understand what was happening. This Alpha should get annoyed at me for damn's sake, only then would I feel relieved. But his actions were scaring the hell out of me. I needed help.

He glanced at it. One message. Target located. The message disappeared seconds later. Kane stared at the blank screen. Enzo. He had known the man long enough to understand what that message meant. They had found him. Kane exhaled slowly. If there was anyone he trusted to handle something quietly, it was Enzo. No unnecessary noise. No questions that didn't need answers. Kane set the phone down. He walked to the counter and poured himself a glass of whiskey. He took one sip.
