She’s the reason you can’t be mine, so I’ve made my choice—she doesn’t get to have you either." With that, she hung up. "Damn it!" Hunter growled, slamming his fist onto the table. His chest burned with rage as he glanced at the gun lying on the floor. After a brief pause, he marched over, picked it up, and stormed out of the building.

My stomach dropped. "What?" He nodded. "I hired investigators to find you after you dared to run from me that morning. It took them a week to find you." Something was slamming hard against my rib cage in a really violent way. I knew what it was. My heart. "I found out who you were—Matteo Leone, a twenty three year old bisexual man, living in your father's house like a prisoner." He leaned forward slightly.
