Kindle Page Turning Novels & Stories

Shania and I decided on Samuel Turner, a marketing manager at Shania's company. Samuel was younger than Lucille and about six years younger than me. I had gotten to know him through a random dinner event in the past. I had formed a deep impression of him because of his good looks and how smart he was at handling all sorts of situations. Later on, I got to know from Shania that he was also very competent at work. He had managed to get his position as marketing manager within a year of joining the company.

I touch its glass cover and to my surprise, it vanishes in just a snap. The book floats mid-air and emits blinding light. It starts glowing and the pages start to turn. A few moments afterward, the pages stop turning. The glow starts to vanish, and the book moves toward my hand. Just like the book I was reading earlier, it has a leather hardbound cover and its title are embroidered with gold. 'The Untold' I said as I've read the title. The page numbers, they skip and it’s not by accident neither was it torn out because they were never written. Page twelve then…Page fifteen. Again. Twenty-three…….Twenty-six. Thirty-one……Thirty-four. It’s a fucking pattern. Every third page is missing. No, Not missing but hidden.My pulse quickens as I run my fingers gently along the edge of the paper. The pages feel thicker as if the two sheets have been pressed together. A slow smile spreads across my face as the puzzle begins to unlock in my head…. “There you are.”I murmur more to myself as I reach into the drawer beneath my desk and remove a small bottle filled with clear liquid.

Walking to the bed I carefully lift the mattress and see that the prophecy book is still tucked neatly underneath it. Sitting on the bed I hold the book in my hands and watch as the symbols on the front of the book transform into a language that I can read. The book hums quietly on my lap begging me to open it. Laying the spine on my legs I let the book fall open. The pages turn on their own as if being moved by the wind. Suddenly the pages stop and a page begins to glow brightly under my finger tips. Taking a deep breath I open my eyes and see a new page glowing brightly in my hands. The symbols magically change and translate themselves on the paper.

“Bookstores. I saw that there are 4 around here. I want to go to all of them.” Vlad seems to be caught off guard. “Wow, do they still exist? We're in the digital age. Isn't it easier to buy a Kindle?”, Vlad looks at me as if I were outdated, and what if I am? “I can guarantee you that a screen won't give off a unique scent of pages with each turn”, I gesture, imitating a page turn. “If it's going to help you in any way, I'll take you.” I tuck a strand of hair behind my ear.

She was trying to unlock the page itself. “Julian, give me your hand!” she cried. “The Key needs a Soul to turn!” Julian didn’t hesitate. He grabbed her hand. His blue light merged with the fiery red of the key. An explosion of purple light blasted them both backwards. The white page didn’t break—it changed. Darkness still surrounded them, but thousands of glowing text lines filled the air, forming a huge spiderweb of sentences. “It’s the Table of Contents,” Julian whispered, wide-eyed. She picked up Isidora’s book and set it down on the table. She opened up the front and back covers and flattened it onto the surface along the creases. One by one, she opened a page on each side. She continued until the spine curves and the pages fanned out, then she opened up a few pages at a time. She kept going until she reached the center carefully so as not to fold the spine. She then flipped the pages from front to back a few times. She then showed them the result. “See? Now the spine will curve instead of crack. Ah.. Do you need a bookmark? I have some..”

I opened the book, the pages releasing a faint, musty scent as they turned. As I flipped through the pages, my fingers lightly traced the intricate runes etched into the parchment. Each symbol seemed to pulse faintly beneath my touch, as if responding to my presence. The further I delved into the book, the stronger the sensation grew—a peculiar warmth spreading from my fingertips, curling up my arms and settling deep within my chest.

Drake cleared his throat. "Open page number 139," He said and turned to the table. I took out the book from my backpack quickly, I didn't want to upset him, though his anger wasn't directed at me.

Challenged him. Why was she here? She found herself considering how to leave. Politely. He grinned. “What I mean is the life is different when the body, the book, is, what, a computer tablet? A teeny-tiny phone?” A long sigh. “Pages, real pages, have a hunger to them. A need that isn’t answered when you push a button or, well, whatever it is you do with a whatchamacallit.” “A Kindle.” “Right. A Kindle. Books are greedy to be read. They’re desperate. That electronic stuff?” He shrugged. “It doesn’t have the feel of the page. It can’t feast on your senses. Your hopes. Your dreams.” A pause as he watched her. “You see?”
