I stare down at my book and focus all my thoughts and energy on a little faith. Please show me how to help bring my pack home. How to bring my mate back to me. I utter the words inside my head and lay my palms flat on the open pages. Sighing as I do so and jump as the edge of the next page lifts and tries to move under my restrictive hold. I yank my hands back in shock that it actually made it do something and watch in awe and horror as the pages begin to flip over in this windless room. They move fast as though caught in the throes of a gust of vicious wind and seem to hasten as it progresses. I swallow down my saliva and choke on the sudden dryness of my mouth.

Serenity turned the next page of the book again instantly. "Hey, how come some of the pages are torn out? But why, I can't get any other information if the next page isn't there." Serenity muttered and continued to turn the pages of the book, but still could not find the paper shreds of the missing pages. Serenity was annoyed.

“Now, begin.” I licked my lips and turned over the pages, running my eyes over the content as fast and precisely as I could. He impatiently tapped his feet while I read. The timer on his phone went off. He snatched the book from my hand and turned it over to a random page. “Read out the entire page sixty-nine,” he said, leafing through the pages. Keeping my eyes fixed on his eyes, I began.

Kwen's POV: I sat on my bed and picked my phone up to check the time. It was about 4:30 in the morning. I sat the phone down and picked the book up. I crossed my legs and laid the book on my lap, gently wiping my hand across the front cover. As if the book knew I was ready to recieve what was inside, it began to glow. I took a deep breath and went to open it to the first page. As I shifted the book to open, it's as if the book had a mind of its own. The pages flipped to mid book. I sat in shock as they kept flipping, until it stopped. I cautiously rested my hands on the pages. They glowed a bright golden color. The title page and table of contents looks normal, but I keep flipping pages to get to chapter one. Two more pages and I’m staring at the first chapter, titled “Finding a Companion.” I almost missed the title completely because my eyes were drawn to the center of the page where there was a rectangular shaped wooden box. All the pages had been cut through the center to fit this box inside, and there was something carved into the box. It was an image of the compass rose and the words “You’re My True North.” I glance back up to the first sentence of the chapter and it reads, “When preparing for an adventure, the first, and possibly most important, decision is who you will choose as your comp

“Yes sir!” the men replied. Once more, Zephyr laid his eyes on the books, his gaze rested on one of them. The book was covered in a layer of dust and was made of bamboo. It looked unique. “Thunderfoot?” Zephyr muttered as he opened the book, reading its contents. A wave of excitement washed over him. He excitedly flipped through the pages, carefully memorizing the technique’s intricate steps.

Why rip out only one page? I read the numbers in the corners of the pages on either side, noting that they took page sixty-three. So I turn to the contents page at the start of the book. She was glancing around the room, trying to distract herself while she waited on her mom to catch up. The room she was in was a massive building with high ceilings. Thousands of 6 feel tall wooded shelves were standing upright and in rows and columns like a well-trained army. Each shelf held one giant ancient-looking book that was over 6ft tall. In front of each shelf was a small table that ran 6ft long and held 4 tables. Each table had a mechanism that could turn the pages of the book remotely from their seat, mages no longer had to get up from their seat or hire someone to turn pages for them.
