Theo’s voice softened, but the words were blades. “The fires six years ago were not fires at all.” Kaye stumbled backward. The color drained from her face. Theo continued. “They were cover stories for something much worse.” My breath stilled. “The Moonstone Pack,” Theo said. “And the Blackwater wolves who died… they did not burn.” Kaye pressed a hand to her mouth. Theo looked directly at me as he spoke the final truth. “Jon Tulip was responsible for both packs.” The hallway fell into a silence so deep it felt alive.

This ghost was not just a good cook, but he was also thrifty and responsible. I liked that. I immediately picked up a pen and wrote back. [My bad, Nat. It’s just a joke. Leon panted, scanning the dim corridor as his breath came in uneven bursts. Suddenly, a faint figure emerged out of the shadows—the female ghost. Her face was blurred and indistinct, her presence otherworldly. She didn’t speak but raised a hand that glowed faintly blue, pointing silently in a specific direction. Leon froze, instinctively stepping back half a pace. But time was slipping through his fingers, and hesitation was a luxury he couldn’t afford. Clenching his jaw, he forced himself to follow the ghost’s lead.

She asked and Garcia nodded her head in understanding, “What would you like to add, Madeleine?” Madeleine pulled her hand in the front that she had been hiding behind her and I saw her holding that same book about the beasts and herbs found in the forest. “I was reading this book back in the room and I found this drawing of this weird creature in the book in a big cloak.” Garcia supplied, “Yes that is the Lich or the Najak that has Leo and a bunch of my people under his spell...” Leo suddenly added in an ashamed voice, “I don’t think I have even introduced myself yet but I am sorry for my earlier behavior.
