King Of Hearts Descendants Novels & Stories

My hands trembled as I reached for the remote, turning on the TV for some distraction, only to feel my heart sink. On the screen was the Averelle royal crest. My family’s crest. A reporter stood in front of it, microphone in hand. “Breaking news: King Alaric Windsor has officially announced his abdication. The King will step down to be with his long-time partner, a hotel receptionist identified as......" The remote slipped from my fingers and thudded onto the rug. “What?” I whispered. “He… he did what?” Cutting to a clip of Alaric my older brother, the King, beaming as if he’d just won a jackpot instead of discarding centuries of royal tradition.

The girls' gushings of the prince faded into the distance until only soft music filled the tiny confines of the trailer. Since I arrived at the orphanage when I was six, I’ve had the unfortunate privilege of watching the Selection process more times than I’d like to admit. The prince was the first descendant of the Vampire King. Heir to his throne. Because of that, the royal family had tried countless times to find him a pet he desired, only to draw up short.

Castien. Castien. The king's older brother. The Crown Prince of Velmoria. The young man who had been twenty-three years old on the morning twenty years ago when they had laid his body on the great stone table of the great hall of the palace in the capital with his throat opened and his hands empty and his pale grey eyes still half-open and the witches of the king's wing weeping in the small private way witches weep when something has happened that should not have been possible. Castien had been dead for twenty years.

She had left a parting gift. I swallowed the bile in my throat, my hazel eyes turning to absolute flint as I watched the skyscrapers of the human city grow closer on the horizon. I was alone, wolfless, and cast aside by the most powerful man alive but I wasn't empty. Deep within my womb, a tiny, royal Lycan heartbeat was already beginning to pulse. I was carrying his heir and he would never know.

"What do you mean?" Elyan's eyes were filled with regret. "The First Guardian's descendants were meant to guard the gate. The elders feared the prophecy. So they attempted to destroy the Heart forever." The Gatekeeper King lowered his head. "It failed." Seraphine closed her eyes. "They believed they had destroyed its physical form. They were wrong. The Heart divided its power." She looked directly at Kael. "And hid a fragment inside the unborn heir." Silence swallowed the battlefield.

"One that saved millions." "But cost her everything." Liana tightened her grip on the Celestial Heart. "So that's my fate?" "No." The answer came immediately. "Destiny is a path." "Not a prison." Relief flickered across Kael's face. The elderly king slowly walked toward him. "And you." "The last heir of House Asterion." Kael bowed. "I greet my ancestors." The old king studied him. "You carry your father's heart." "But also his greatest weakness." Kael looked confused.

'Angel face, evil thoughts.' ———♤♤♤——— Accepting Lucas deal meant that both Jace and Bella were now members of the Panthers: the American Mafia that was lead by the Kingston heir. And though it may seem dumb on Bella's part to accept such offer, she promise herself that she wouldn't let Lucas Kingston take advantage of the authority he held over them. They were assassins, they were supposed to be working only for themselves yet now they have themselves seemingly tied by a leash.

"I still haven’t recovered from the last time they argued over who had the ‘cooler' title." I rolled my eyes. "Uncle Xander is the King of Hearts and Uncle Henry is the King of Clubs. Why do they even need to fight about it?" "Because they’re them," she said dryly. Then frowned. "But now that you mention it… it is indeed weird that they aren’t here yet.”

Johnson looked moved, gratefully accepting the tea from Eileen, drinking it quickly, his small eyes glistening with tears. “You’re very kind, Uncle,” I said, taking a sip of tea and lowering my eyes to avoid his emotional gaze. “I knew...” “I want to know, am I really the King’s only child?” I interrupted Johnson’s sentimental words with my first question. “Oh, of course,” Johnson answered quickly, looking shocked. “All werewolves know you are the King’s only child, the only Princess.” “Then, do I have any other cousins? What are their names?” I asked my second question. Johnson briefly pondered before shaking his head. “Your mother only had me as a brother, and I haven’t met my Luna yet, so

Hugo stood there with emptiness in his eyes, leaning against the wall, watching into the void, speaking purposelessly, "Your bloodline doesn't end with the death of the princesses. Your son. . ."
