Her heart was pounding in her chest, and she heard a whining in the back of her head. Thank Goddess. Her wolf was there. She just didn't have a strong connection to her yet. The relief made her heart skip a beat. "You're my mate," the King said, and before she could respond, he grabbed her by the hips, burying his face in her neck. "You smell so good. Better than I expected."

It was only when my fingernails tore into my own flesh that the searing pain succeeded in wrenching my thoughts back to the present. "What's the matter, Helena? You should really try this perfume," Queenie prompted as she batted her large eyes with a look of pure innocence, her harmless appearance giving absolutely no hint of her cruel and wicked nature. She noticed that I didn't reach for the gift, so she gently extended the porcelain bottle containing the perfume. I quickly shot up and stepped away from my desk. I pointed warily at the slightly cluttered surface and said, "You can just leave that there for the time being."

The King's head turns to the window, and he looks up to the sky, "I wonder why I cannot scent her pheromones well at that night. What do her pheromones smell like." Kingsley raises his brows to hear King Hedery's speech, "who, Your Highness?" "Nothing, Kingsley. Keep walking." Those straight words make Kingsley sulk. The Knights open the door when they saw the King and Minister heading towards the room. And they lower their heads as the higher-ups enter. Then, the two Knights close the door. The court members quickly bow their heads in the presence of their King. "Good morning, Father!" Corine happily exclaims.

I have grown to hate them all anyway. 2 hours later, the king gets in the limo dressed in an orange suit with a white shirt and a black tie. He looks like a fucking pumpkin. The smell of his usual aftershave is strong, and it always makes me gag. Once he is in, the door closes, and I know we will be pulling off soon. "Come here" he commands, and I do as he says. He sits me on his lap.

"You think you're ready?" I saunter to his desk and plant my hands on it, leaning in. "King, I've been ready for you my entire life." For a moment, King regards me. He pivots, squiring off to face me. He seems bigger, bulkier. His eyes burn into mine, ice blue with a black band around them. A musky scent washes over me, spicy and masculine. My pulse picks up as I hear a low rumbling sound. It's coming from King. I straighten. "You okay? You seem--"

I didn’t even take notice that there were others still around us until I heard someone growl loudly, “MATE!” We whimper at the authority within that growl, but it wasn’t threatening in any way even though Raoul and Nicolas take a step forward and slightly in front of me. They then seem to talk between themselves for a moment. I take a deep breath and smell Nicolas and Raoul, but there is something more. It isn’t until Raoul steps back that I see the King standing in front of us, his eyes flickering gold, and as the wind blows a little in our direction, I smell it…

The sudden realization that I'm left with the king hits me, and I am nervous like sweaty palms nervous. "So, do you have any plans?" he asks, stepping closer to me. "House chores, mopping, sweeping, laundry and the like," I chuckle nervously, hoping that will drive him away. "Oh, great, well let's get started," he says excitedly, he takes off his watch and royal ring and places it on the kitchen counter; he is in sweatpants, sneakers, and a Nirvana t-shirt. I walk into the kitchen, open the pantry, and get the cleaning supplies out, I turn around and bump into his hard-muscular chest, I look up and he is already smirking at me.

“Now, if you’ll excuse me, I think I need to return to my chambers for the evening.” Kaleb took a step closer, and when he did, the strange smell of his cologne hit my nose. I hadn’t noticed it in the crowd, but now that we were alone, I could detect the scent of roses and something spicy, peppery almost. It was an unusual fragrance, but still very pleasant. “I’m not joking about my offer,” he said in a low voice that sent a chill through me. “Please, consider it. I would even discuss it with the Alpha King myself if I must.”

I could tell by merely looking at him that even he had questions, questions like Keisha and Darius, but he refrained from asking any. “We are keeping the king waiting,” his tone indifferent as he fixed his eyes on the cream-coloured wall behind me. Did everyone here just happen to smell nice? I pondered, inhaling his rich scent of oud wood. I swallowed, noticing that he was staring at me now, probably wondering what sort of psycho I was and what was going through my distorted mind. I opened the bag to see the most beautiful pair of slippers I had ever seen. “The wolf king as– asked you to give me these?”
