CHAPTER 3 JESSA My breath hitched. Just like that. I opened my eyes and met his. “I…” I swallowed. “Look. When this is over, we go back to normal. You annoy me, I ignore you. We don’t talk about this.” He stared at me. And then I kissed him. My mouth crashed into his and he kissed me back. I sucked on his tongue, slow and dirty, until he groaned into my mouth. His hands slid down to my ass, gripping it hard through my scrubs and slapping it, making me gasp into the kiss.

The words leave me as my lips are breathlessly captured into a deep kiss. A searing kiss that felt like pure abyss that I slowly pulled and drowned into. One I couldn’t escape. So I gave in.

“I know. That’s why I mean it.” He gave me a small smile. The kind that didn’t quite reach his eyes, but tried. I leaned over and kissed his cheek before getting out of the car. I didn’t look back. Inside, I sat at my desk and opened my laptop. The manuscript was still open from earlier. I stared at the blinking cursor. For the first time in months, I knew how the next chapter would begin.

It’s bigger than before, making my body shake. Houston’s hand snakes up, trailing up my stomach. It reaches my neck, and he gently grabs hold. I feel his lips on my cheek, pressing lightly. They move around to my lips, and he captures them in a searing kiss. His tongue pushes into my mouth, and I let it. My breathing is erratic, and my emotions are all over the place. His lips move from my lips to my neck. He sucks on the spot where his mark should go, and my eyes roll in the back of my head. He pulls his lips away, and I feel his eyes on me. I struggle to open my eyes and meet his gaze. “I want you, Alayasia. Can I have you?” I can’t speak. My mouth isn’t working, and my voice isn’t there.

I don’t need time, I need his mouth and I need the answer to the question that’s been scraping at my bones since the first time he looked at me like I wasn’t a child.
