He said nothing, but rested his head over mine, and after a moment, I felt his body relax. A moment later, one of the elders started. It was a beautiful story, shared in her family for generations. It was about the king courting an elf princess, about a competition born out of nowhere, and about the princess riding a white horse while the king ran in wolf form. She had slipped while jumping over a river, and he had caught her, saving her life. And when the guards caught up with them, he had been given clothes and had ridden the horse back with the princess secured in his arms.

Unity and harmony flourished, and the beings of different realms came together, forming friendships and alliances that transcended boundaries. One day, as the hero wandered through the bustling streets of The Enchanted Realm, they encountered a group of young beings gathered around a storyteller. The storyteller was regaling them with tales of the hero's epic journey, the battles fought, and the sacrifices made. The young beings listened with wide eyes, captivated by the tale. "And that, my dear young ones," the storyteller said with a flourish, "is the tale of the hero who embraced their destiny and brought light to the darkest corners of The Enchanted Realm and beyond."

She forced herself forward, step by shaky step. Then she spotted a pile of yellowed newspapers crammed in a corner. She tried to go over, but each movement flooded her mind with fragmented images. "Almost there," she muttered. A memory fragment flickered. Someone was reading fairy tales by her bed. She heard her younger self ask, "Brother, why do princes and princesses fall in love at first sight?" "Because they're meant to be," he replied softly. "But can't the princess love someone else?" "She might have many knights, but only the prince is her match."
