I could feel it in my bones.
I looked at her, really looked at her, pleading without words. My eyes burned, my hands shaking at my sides, but she ignored it completely.
“I’ve planned one last thing,” Lana continued. “Something memorable. A bang to end it all.”
Ronan folded his arms. “I’m listening.”
“A motorcycle race,” she said brightly. “You’ll lead it.”
“What?” That caught him slightly off guard. “A race?”
“High stakes. Big turnout,” she said, gesturing with her hands, and with Ronan's rapt attention, I wasn't sure where she was heading with all of this. “Each rider brings a partner.”
