Such books one could not get at any typical book store as they were mostly given out to adventures, who were most of the time tasked with taking out phantom-beasts that appeared in rural areas. The guilds were not the only ones with a record of these books as there were some recorded at the palace, but only knights who served the empire had access. Then there was the black market, but people should not trust some of the information stored inside as merchants would sometimes sell fake information at a high price.
