Unable to contain herself any longer, Candice reminded Alex, "She doesn't understand any of that." Ellis was sitting on the floor, reaching out for a hug and clearly calling out, "Mommy!" Observing the interaction, Alex furrowed his brows, seemingly pondering something important. After a moment, he tentatively uttered, "Candy." His gaze then shifted back to Ellis, wondering aloud, "Can she understand Jellari?" Candice noticed a fleeting look of disappointment in his eyes. She quietly picked up her phone and played a children's animation for Ellis.

Soon, the book was brought back up to the second floor. “I’m going to start the roll call. When I call your names, step forward!” Elisa said. “The Waterbay Gang, Charles Cane. “The Resonance Gang, Philip River. “The Clearriver Gang…” The ones who were called stepped forward. Only about six people stood at the back. Elisa’s face turned sour as she looked over, and she froze. “Dustin, how dare you come here?!” she roared. “Well, you very grandly told all of Lannopolis’s underground society to come here, so how could I not?” Dustin said mockingly.

I did try my best to help Ellis and Echo but it seemed to me their problem was more that they were both stubborn and reactive and blew up before any conversation and comprehension happened. “Ok, the yelling and arguing are needless you two. Just stop, take a breath and then I want you both to tell me what you want out of a mate bond. No judgment or expectations, just say what it is that you want out of a bond as an individual. Ellis, you go first.” Laris said calmly, sitting back in the chair with her legs crossed, looking unbothered and utterly calm. Oh, how I envied her that. Ellis sighed and ran a hand over the shaved part of her head, the stubble making a small sound against her palm.

He gestured to the two beta bodies on the ground and the two deranged she-wolves in the car. "Please ensure someone disposes of the trash, or Manager Jack will fire me." "He wouldn't dare, as his boss is here," Damian joked, patting Ellis. "Extend my heartfelt gratitude to Lee on behalf of Alicia and me. Without him, Alicia might not have survived today." With that, Damian departed to locate Alicia. Ellis had a strange feeling that he had seen Lee before, despite being certain that it was his first encounter with him.

“Is this about Thea? You actually hurt over this?” I met his eyes, gave him nothing. “I don’t get hurt.” He blinked, then laughed again, assuming I was joking. “Classic. Ice in your veins, man. That’s why we’ve survived this long.” He raised his coffee cup in a mock toast. “To never letting them see us sweat.” I clinked my mug against his, but my mind was elsewhere. Ellis kept talking… something about a party in Miami he wanted me to hit with him, some model who’d been blowing up his phone but I only half-listened. My silence didn’t bother him; he was used to it. He filled the air for both of us.

“Gregory’s agreements stabilized the region.” “They carved my pack apart.” “They prevented a larger war.” “They created one.” Silence. For the first time, Ellis didn’t answer immediately. Lotty stepped forward then. Not far. Just enough.“You wanted me out of Dark Mountain.” Ellis’s gaze shifted to her. “You misunderstand your importance.” Lotty smiled faintly. “No, I think you did.” Tony looked delighted. Decker’s eyes never left Ellis.

“But tell someone to pick up some more beer.” “Duly noted,” he confirmed. Lya shifted uncomfortably and bit her lip. “Do-do they know about… me?” she stuttered. “Brandon is a gamma up north, so he does,” I explained. “But Ellie doesn’t.” “Whose Ellie?” “Elise is my mate who doesn’t like me,” Cody spat. Lya furrowed her eyebrows. “Why do you want her to come over if she doesn’t like you?” I chuckled. The girl had a point. Especially given the conversation I had had with Cody just a couple nights previously, I was just as curious as Lya.
