Lyra POV Lyra leads him up the stairs to the seventh floor of the building. It’s laid out just the same as the two floors below it. Unlike the fifth and sixth floors, though, it’s clear that someone has been here, and recently. The desks have been pushed up against the walls, for one thing. In the center of the room, the carpet has been scraped up to reveal cement, and there’s a dark circle there. Cassian squats and touches it.

The labyrinth was alive, and now it demanded the final act. “This is it,” V whispered, eyes scanning the shifting shadows. “Whatever happens next, we have to trust each other completely.” Anna nodded, swallowing hard. “We have no other choice.” Her gaze swept the chamber, noting the symbols etched into the floor, the mirrors warping the reflections, and the hidden alcoves where danger might lurk. The figure stepped closer, voice cold but calm. “The labyrinth shows the truth. Choose wisely. One path leads to revelation, the other… to oblivion.”

“That’s terrible advice.” “It usually works.” Lilith tried to ignore Selene’s casual remark, then slowly placed her palm on top of the symbol. But nothing happened. A few seconds passed, and slowly the symbol began to glow. A silvery light emerged from between the carvings, then began to spread across the floor like tree roots. And the entire room shook instantly. “Lilith!” Lucas immediately grabbed Lilith by the shoulders, but it was already too late. The sound of an old mechanism echoed from beneath the floor. Dust rained down from the ceiling. Stones shifted. And right before their very eyes, the marble floor slowly parted. Then it began to form a path leading to a secret chamber beneath

As we turned the corner toward the children’s wing— The air changed. Subtle. Faint scent of unfamiliar earth. Not natural soil. Disturbed. Kaelor stopped abruptly. “Wait.” The corridor floor beneath us felt slightly uneven. He knelt, placing his palm against the stone. His expression darkened. “Hollow.” Liam swore. Before we could react— The floor gave way. Stone panels dropped downward in a silent, calculated collapse. Liam lunged forward, grabbing my arm. Kaelor’s flames burst outward, slowing our fall.

"Cute." But Jack wasn't aiming for Valerius. He was aiming for the floor. The explosives had weakened the floor of the lobby. Underneath the marble was the sub-basement. And underneath that... was the nest. "Look down," Jack yelled. Valerius looked down. The floor cracked. A spiderweb of fractures spread from the center of the room. CRACK-BOOM. The entire floor gave way. Jack, Valerius, and tons of debris fell into the darkness of the basement.

Nix, The Goddess of vampires? At the end of the tunnel, more stairs and another tunnel that leads to a chamber. Opposite to us, I see three doors. In the middle of the chamber, the floor is covered with fog. The floor is formed from square stone tiles. "We go to the left, where the fog starts. You step exactly where I step, or else you will fall to your death," Vlad says. He steps on the first two tiles from the wall, then one to the right, one up, five more to the right, two up, and then left five more tiles, and we are free of the fog.

I can't quite remember how I ended up here in the first place, but this route feels much more straightforward. I walk to the far side of the grand hall and enter a smaller room that leads outside to the garden. This exit is elevated, one floor above the ground, and there's a catwalk leading down to a staircase that descends into the garden. Being able to see the garden from this perspective and during the daylight is a pleasure. From above, I can make out the garden's intricate labyrinth design. It's captivating and utterly beautiful.

The air was thick with an otherworldly energy as they exchanged determined glances and stepped forward, crossing the threshold into the labyrinth. The first steps they took seemed ordinary, but soon the corridor ahead twisted and turned, shifting like a living entity. Elysia's voice was laced with awe as she spoke, "This labyrinth is unlike anything I've ever seen before. Its paths are in constant flux, a reflection of the realm's ever-changing nature."

Dreams pressed in—threads of light, voices calling my name, hands releasing mine instead of holding. When morning arrived, it felt like standing at the edge of a cliff. The Loom Chamber lay beneath the capital, far below the roots. The air grew warmer as we descended, heavy with layered magic. The walls were carved with patterns that made my head ache if I looked too long. At the center stood a circular platform woven of light and stone. I knew it instantly. “I’ve been here,” I whispered. “Yes,” Aestra said. “And you will be again. But this time, awake.”

On, through a dim hallway, we reach another door, and through that… “Holy shit,” I breathe as we step into a cavernous hall. The ceiling is a riot of frescoes divided up into squares and circles, the windows are so tall I almost get dizzy. The floor here is decidedly not cracked; it’s a twisting pattern of ribbons in pink and black marble that convene in a medallion in the center of the floor, near the base of an arching staircase. Owen leans down to whisper in my ear, just as awed as I am, “Welcome home, us.”
