It was Melissa. She grabbed my arm and swam toward the shore with all her strength. I could feel her hands trembling, but her grip was firm. The waves slammed into us, as if trying to swallow us whole. Melissa gritted her teeth, breaking free from the waves again and again. I saw the determined gleam in her eyes. Finally, we were nearing the shore. Melissa summoned her last bit of strength and shoved me toward it. I was lifted by the force of a wave and crashed onto the sand.
