There was a problem. Federal authorities raided Langston's offices around noon. Langston was escorted out of the premises in handcuffs within an hour. The press was going wild. The cameras flashed. Reporters yelled inquiries. Sitting side by side on their couch, Nicholas and Cassie watched the live show. Finally letting herself unwind, Cassie let out a breath. "It's over." But Nicholas wasn't sure. Langston smirked as he turned to face the camera, which panned in on him being shoved into the police car. He mouthed something after that.

Liz knocked once and opened the door. “Boss, got a minute?” He looked up. Alexander Langston. I blinked. He was sitting behind a desk too clean to be real, wearing a grey suit that made him look carved from stone. His eyes flicked to me, and for a moment, something shifted in them. Recognition.
