He started the car and moved forwards to the parking lot exit. He had to turn the steering wheel to the left and go to wait for Marianna outside the restaurant as he had told her, but in a fit of rage and frustration, he turned the steering wheel to the right and stepped on the gas. He was driving towards his house at a frantic pace. Fortunately, the streets were almost empty so late at night. He managed to reach his home safely. He entered his house, closing the door behind him with force. He went straight and poured whiskey into a glass. He took a big sip.

I turned on the music, letting a soft, solemn tune fill the car. It played quietly in the background while I tapped my fingers against the steering wheel, trying to keep my mind busy. But it wasn’t working. Because the more I tried not to think about Cassie, the more she filled my thoughts. Her face. Her voice.
