I looked up through watery eyes to find my mum staring at me, horrified, while my dad, who had now joined her, stared in disapproval.
I bit my lip, trying really hard not to cry; Dad wouldn't like that. I really wanted to impress him, and besides, warriors don't cry. Then a loud laugh burst through someone's mouth, then another, and in a few seconds, the whole field was filled with loud laughter. They were laughing at me. I sat up and stared down at my motionless hand;my elbow was broken. My lips trembled, and my eyes stung with tears. Warriors don't cry, warriors don't cry, I chanted, but it was no use; the tears were already rolling down.
