That’s embarrassing…. We pass several closed doors and then this small open section for laundry stuff. I’ll have to do some research in that field as well. I didn’t use anything fancy when I had the money to wash clothes. Things have been changing and it can be hard to find a laundry place that still takes coins and has the vending machine for detergent. Now I would have a set of machines of my own and I can get any kind of detergent I want. It’s a simple thing to be excited about but I can’t wait to try it all! I want to learn everything and anything I can about running a house. That probably would include cooking, right?

You can only move forward. Another year passed. The laundromat now had a name: "The Lighthouse." One of the girls, Lena, came up with it. Everyone else just made me feel smaller. I continued my shift and went to the gym next. For some reason, there were dirty towels scattered everywhere today, like the guys had been having some kind of tournament or extra practice. I gathered them all into a big pile, my arms aching from the weight. Once I had everything, I carried the heavy load to the laundry room. We were just three in here though and our job was to sort the clothes to make sure there were no stains of any kind. I stepped into the well-lit laundry room which had two washers and dryers, all gleaming silver in the light, hoping I wouldn't ruin Anysia's expensive and delicate clothes. Carefully, I separated the whites, the colors, and the delicates, making sure to incorporate a special kind of detergent that was meant for such luxurious fabrics.

"But it's a big enough area for me to stretch on the way to me run and a place to take off me sweaty clothes on the way back before hittin' the shower." Denise turns the heat up on the rice and opens the fridge, talking loudly over her shoulder as she digs around on the shelves. "They have a place just like that in the brownstone. I'm sure you've heard of it. It's called a laundry room," she emphasizes, turning back with a carton of eggs in her hands. "And the best part is you can throw those sweaty clothes right in the washer instead of on the grass." He harrumphs. "In the condo, I don't have to maintain a yard."
