ASHINA’S POV The clanging of footsteps shattered the suffocating deadlock. It began as a faint, almost imperceptible rumble, like a distant storm murmuring across the plains. I held my breath while Alpha Knight paused mid-motion, sword suspended in the air, his gaze snapping sharply towards the growing noise. Then, out of the shadows, they appeared. Aji Sangkala smiled. Arya Santanu tried to lure Narakashura's head with a fishing rod made of the element of light. He hung the head with a fishing hook that had been given a string of light. Arya Santanu placed it hanging right in front of his face. He realized that Narakashura's face was so plain. There were no eyes, no nose, and no mouth. "Are you dead?" The wind seemed to pick up on her heart which had also begun to race, and it flew around her more violently. Even though she couldn't see, Adriana felt it, and she heard the trees resisting the tug of the current. The branches creaked, and the wind roared as it sped through them, sending leaves flying in all directions.

A black SUV screeches to a stop. The door opens. Leanora Thornton steps out, smiling. "Hello, Jamie. Miss me?" Jamie shifts mid-run, putting herself between Leanora and her children. But Leanora's faster. Silver chains wrap around Jamie's wolf form, burning through fur to skin. She collapses, the silver draining her strength. "Don't hurt my mama!" Herston's hands glow silver. Power builds in her small body. "None of that." Leanora pulls out a dart gun and shoots. The tranquilizer hits Herston in the shoulder.

Moments later Naruto landed hard, kicking up dust. "Sakura-chan! I'm here, like you asked!" He glanced around, a nervous energy vibrating off him. The air tasted of rain and unspoken desires. Sakura emerged from the shadows beneath a massive oak, her emerald eyes narrowed, a mix of impatience and something hotter swirling within them. She wore a simple, high-necked training top and shorts, but Naruto knew better than to mistake it for innocence. "Took you long enough, Baka," she snapped, but her voice lacked its usual bite. She pushed a strand of pink hair behind her ear, her gaze unwavering. "Hinata let you out, did she?"
