“That I’ll gonna find from the package, what I am looking for in eras?” I didn’t answer. “Or the package will disappoint me again. Tsk.” He closed his eyes to the fact that he suffers a lot of disappointment in his life, finding the precious stone and spending his time to search for it. I know it is boring stuff to look for something without any trace if it exists. And he makes his own way to entertain himself. He hands the device; I took it and return it to my staff. He spends some few minutes appreciating the fresh breeze. Then he walked out of the room as we follow him with a silence.

Not a reassurance, not a comfort, but a genuine promise about something he believed was going to happen. That was the most unsettling thing he had said yet. I turned toward the door. "I am leaving the house today," I said. He did not stop me. Did not move or speak or do any of the things I had half expected. But his voice came as I reached for the door handle. "Where?" I paused. One beat, just one, and then I answered. "That is part of my terms." A silence. And then, "Take a driver." I turned slightly. "I can manage on my own."

By the time I step out into the backyard, he’s already moved away to give himself some privacy. Damn it.

the man said with hesitation. What was he hesitating? It will be better if he goes by himself. “If it is not worth my time, I will fire you!” he threatened as he stood up, leaving the office. He drove into the compound, not caring to stop at all. He stepped out of the car. He walked towards the door, pushing it open. He looked up and saw no one. It was like he did not leave a single soul at home. Or rather, the soul that was responsible for making the place noisy was not around.

“Let me know when you figure it out.” And just like that, he’s gone, leaving me alone with the weight of my choices.

I stated as I lifted up my arm to show the device that would help me be more independent. The smile he had was quick to leave. I would've questioned it and thought he didn't like the idea of me not needing his help anymore but I was no longer naive. I should've never even mentioned it because this device was all I had to fight back. So I would have to learn on my own. These presentations had my mind all messed up and me not thinking about what really mattered. My arm was gently grabbed by him bringing me back to him. I didn't even realize I had spaced out for a second. His worried and regretful face had me looking down at my arm that he was now holding alittle too tight.

He said and hugged her again before she got into her car and the driver drove off leaving him standing there, never in a million years did he ever think his mom would be okay with him making his own choices. It had always been who he was. I sighed deeply, staring at him in silence, waiting. When he said nothing more, I finally spoke. “Fine. If you want to leave, I won’t stop you. But before you do, you need to tell me what’s going on.” I paused.

Swallowing my nervousness I say just above a whisper. “I don’t think the family can help…” I take another quick breath and then continue before he can say anything. “I think I have to do this on my own.” A smile then pulls at his lips as he gets to his feet leans over, placing a quick kiss on my forehead and then moves to lean against his desk. Keeping his hands on the edge of his desk he stares at me as he then says, “You want to leave?” “I want to travel. I want to find myself.”
