Crimson Stone Pack Leira, a loyal fighter, rushed into Luna Alicia’s room, her face filled with worry. Luna Alicia stood up from her seat. With hesitation, Leira handed her a letter wrapped in a black cloth. “This came from Prince Zeke.” As Luna Alicia read the letter, tears filled her eyes. “A war…” she whispered. “After a drought.” She stumbled, overwhelmed by the news, but Leira quickly helped her back to the chair. Following Luna Alicia's command, Leira took the letter and set it on fire with a match.

“What is it?” He turned the screen toward her. A single photo — them at dinner with Julian Vance. But this time, the caption beneath it read: “The Deal They Don’t Want You To See.” Maya’s heart sank. “Leo... what have they done?” He stared at the screen, jaw tight. “They’ve just declared war.”

The waiter worked swiftly as he placed everything on the table. A steaming bowl of chicken alfredo was placed in front of me as well as a large glass of raspberry lemonade. The drink was a gorgeous shade of vibrant pink. Thin slices of lemon and tiny clumps of frozen raspberries floated freely in the glass. Bouncing amongst the other deliciously as I poked the cup with a giddy gasp. “Are those real raspberries?! You put real raspberries with your lemonade?!” “The lemonade is made with real raspberries. But we usually don't add extra fruit to the drink. Mother told me it’s something you like.” Smugness seeped into his smile. “Seems she was right.”

Lila could not believe that the monsters she was expecting turned out to be really sweet people. With the way his mom welcomed her from the door, one would never believe that there was truly a war going on between both families. It made her wonder if it was only her family that was keeping up the war or if the Beaumont family was just a bunch of really good actors. She was leaning towards the latter because there was no way they were going to be really sweet towards her that way.
