Lonely Dove

Lonely Dove

She was nearly twenty-four and hadn’t got a mile past Lonesome Dove, which wasn’t fast progress considering that she had only been twelve when her parents got nervous about Yankees and left Mobile. That much slow progress would have discouraged most women, but Lorena didn’t allow her mind to dwell on it. She had her flat days, of course, but that was mostly because Lonesome Dove itself was so flat. She got tired of looking out the window all day and seeing nothing but brown land and gray chaparral. In the middle of the day the sun was so hot the land looked white. She could see the river from her window, and Mexico. Lippy told her she could make a fortune if she

Stories by Irene

Stories by Irene

Maybe one day my talent will get me somewhere better in life. Ah ,grief, I should not treat you like a homeless dog, who comes to the back door for a crust, for a meatless bone , I should trust you. I should coax you into the house and give you, your own corner,a worn mat to lie on, your own water dish . You think I don't know you've been living under my porch. You long for your real place to be readied before winter comes . You need your name, your collar and tag, you need the right to warn off intruders, to consider my house your own and me your person and yourself my own dog . A poem by Denise Levertov.

Amaria

Amaria

As she reminisced about a long-forgotten memory. *** "Are you going to keep playing with me like this forever, Sister Lynette?" Little Dove inquired. Lynette carried Dove in her arms and spun her around gracefully "Yes, my sweet little sister. This older sister will never stop playing with you." Dove's radiant grin and constant giggles filled the room. 'I thought I buried those memories,' Dove reflected as she lowered her head and rested her hand on her chest. " Dove, are you all right?" Amaria inquired.

The White Dove

The White Dove

I demanded, my aura had shifted to anger at myself, and I was taking it out on whoever was disturbing my musings. “Mr Kozlov, a Mrs Orlov calling from London for you,” Came the voice of my Secretary. “I don’t have a clue who this woman is. She can make an appointment if she needs to speak with me.” I responded. I wasn't in the mood for people grovelling to me today. “She is adamant, sir, said something about a dove?” The breath caught in my throat, and I stilled completely at the word Dove. There was only one thing that came to my mind when the word Dove was mentioned.

Abnormally Normal

Abnormally Normal

after everything I went through, still just insults I did my study on those creatures for years, and I can still remember some of my favourite poetry and poems I read as a kid A Last Word by Ernest Dowson Let us go hence: the night is now at hand; The day is overworn, the birds all flown; And we have reaped the crops the gods have sown; Despair and death; deep darkness o'er the land, Broods like an owl; we cannot understand Laughter or tears, for we have only known Surpassing vanity: vain things alone Have driven our perverse and aimless band. Let us go hence, somewhither strange and cold, To Hollow Lands where just men and unjust Find end of labour, where's rest for the old, Freedom to all

Just need to be edited, overall I love it, it has it's originality, it's start like some crazy sitcom and ends up having this climax, my favourite character has to be Goblin, I like how you portrayed his character, he's someone who was hurt because of the werewolves and vampires issues, overall nice

Dove's Cry The Series

Dove's Cry The Series

Hayley asked with a sigh. “Black doves right here,” I say pointing to my collar bone. “Sounds painful, and also why black doves?” Jason asked curiously. “Because doves are symbolism for purity and innocence, my innocence has been taken away from me,” I explained truthfully. “Damn, that's deep,” Jason says nodding in agreement. “Don’t encourage her,” Hayley says, smacking Jason’s shoulder. “Why not seem like she has it all planned out,” He says, giving me a small smile.

Breaking the Barbaric Alpha

Breaking the Barbaric Alpha

Lenore urged her. She listened to the sound of their feet crunching in the snow, waiting for it to be distant before she moved from behind the tree. She ducked her head as she charged at the building. Sliding in the wall. The cold wind rushed around the side of the building kicking up snow as it did. The temperature was dropping. She needed inside but knew she could not go through the front door. She needed another way in. Her eyes scanned the side of the building and a dull light flickered from a window just out of reach. She moved under hoping a little trying to reach the edge. Her fingertips brushed against it. She shut her eyes and pulled on Lenore and she jumped again. This time both

Vampire on Fire

Vampire on Fire

To his surprise, it was from none other than the devil—Calil. “Ah, distinctly I remember it was in the bleak December; And each separate dying ember wrought its ghost upon the floor. Eagerly I wished the morrow;—vainly I had sought to borrow From my books surcease of sorrow—sorrow for the lost Lenore— For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore— Nameless here for evermore.”

She Runs with Wolves

She Runs with Wolves

I continued, keeping my eyes fixed on my pale, skinny fingers clutched around my knees, “and goes back to reading. But then there’s a tap on his window, and a raven flies in. He asks it questions, and it only answers with one word: ‘nevermore.’ He asks it about Lenore, but still its reply remains the same. “The man asks the raven if he will join Lenore in heaven when he dies, if their souls will be joined once more. At the raven’s answer – you guessed it, ‘nevermore’ – the man says, well, ‘be that our word of parting’ – he wants it to leave. It is a reminder of death, yet it sits, unmoving, watching him as he dissolves further into madness. Death remains with him, as it does with us all.” “G

I am loving this beautifully written book! The author takes the time to craft the characters and the ways the natural world mirrors this inner world. I love that this is a very different kind of Alpha!
