Aurora POV While searching for records of the Shadow Clan in the Red Moon Wolf Clan's library, I felt overwhelmed. The library was massive. Three floors of shelves packed with ancient texts, scrolls, and documents. Some were so old the pages crumbled at the slightest touch. Gray was still recovering from the Shadow Clan's dark magic. The black veins had faded more, but he tired easily. He insisted on helping with the research anyway. "You should be resting," I said for the third time that morning.

And then Donato stopped. Because the shadows finally peeled back enough for him to see it. A stone pedestal alone. Centered beneath a beam of pale blue light like moonlight trapped underground. And resting on that pedestal… was a single book. Black, old, bound in rough, darkened leather. Its surface cracked like something had clawed it. And around it circling like frost drifted a faint, ghostly mist. Donato's breath left him in a shocked, trembling exhale. "The Black Great Book…" he whispered.

"It's an immortality spell." She shook her head. "Not likely. Immortality is a myth. You'd have to be a god to do that. Is the darkness a god?" "I don't think so." My eyes shifted through more of the books. They all had one thing in common: the need for a blood relation of the person casting the spell or the person they were summoning. "So, If not immortality, then the darkness must be summoning a Grey. Are they trying to summon my mother?"

Gladys explained. So I sat there staring at this spell book. It was a few hundred pages thick and I actually picked it up myself so that I could get a feel for how heavy it was. I then put it back down and I started focusing on the book and nothing else. There were people talking around me, a little heckling because those vampires were assholes, but I blocked them all out.
