"I didn't really notice before." "Thanks," Liam replied, closing the door behind us with a soft click. "I try to keep it decent. Never know when someone might drop by." A small bookshelf in the corner caught my attention, filled with what looked like a mix of textbooks and actual novels. I hadn't expected him to be much of a reader, but there were worn paperbacks mixed in with his school books, their spines creased from multiple readings. "You read Stephen King?" I asked, noticing one of the horror novels tucked between his English textbook and a basketball strategy guide.

Liora Vale had always loved the quiet. At twenty-one, she worked the night shift at the old city library. Most people thought the job was boring, but Liora loved being alone with the books after midnight. The tall shelves felt like old friends. Louisa shouted, interrupting the silence in the library with her penetrating voice. Ms Kate threw Louisa a glare from a distance. Sheila smirked before following her friend towards labyrinth of bookshelves. "Did ye find the book?" Sheila whispered, as soon as she stood beside her friend rummaging through the row of books. "I'm still searching," she replied, pulling out a book titled the great expectation by Charles Dickens. "What's the title?" Louisa shoved the book to its stance and pulled out another book, but the title was far from what she expected. She groaned in disappointment. What if someone else took it?

Liam texted "Inside the library. Are you in school?" "Yes, on my way to the library" I was using my lunch break to go through my mathematics note "Serious student" Liam whispered into my ear as he took the seat next to mine "Hey, what's up?"I asked "I'm good and what are you doing?" "Mathematics" "I'm so sorry for disappointing you" He dropped a book on the table and continued talking "I was extremely busy" I picked up the book and read it. It's smelled like hundreds of years ago and it backcover was almost crumbling under my touch "Sargon" I read out load. That was the title of the book "What does that mean?"

Elizabeth's point of view: When I was done showering, I took one of the books that I grabbed yesterday from the library and I started reading. Besides getting the information I need, this book does me a great favor by keeping me company. I took one book that's called {The enemy 'Lycans}. It's a book written by the vampire scientist and philosopher 'Athan Denovo'. As expected, this one defined Lycans as the enemy number one of the vampires since they are quietly as strong as the vampires.

A small smile tugged at her lips as she got up and walked over. Running her fingers along the spines, she realized with surprise that they were all romance novels. For a moment, she wondered why Liam had chosen romance for her? She had expected mysteries or something darker. After scanning the titles, her hand paused on one. She pulled it out gently. Whispers of the Forgotten Moon by Evelyn Hart. Carrying it back to the bed, she curled up against the pillows and opened the book. Caleb stepped out of the car as he quickly opened the door for Liam, who came out and strode past him without sparing a glance, as he walked straight into the house.

**Elizabeth's POV** * I waited for Brandon's rant and scolding, but he did not do it. He just fished a few books out of the drawer, tossed them to me, and went back to sleep. I took several deep breaths before I picked up the books. They were not textbooks. They were obviously checked out from the library. Not everyone has the right to enter the library. Because many books in the library are confidential. And the three books Brandon gave me were World Geography, Warrior Combat Skills, and Medicine Encyclopedia.

Sensing something was wrong, the two girls followed her, leaving me alone in the bedroom. Their small bookshelves took my attention. Each shelf was labeled with our kids’ names, and the hardbound, colorful books seemed to be according to the girls’ interests. Leyanne’s books were mostly related to human anatomy. Lyra Helene seemed to love chemistry. Only Selene’s books have no specific field preference, but they were still science- and math-related books. They were children’s books, but I could not believe they were reading them instead of fairy tales and nursery rhymes. Trailing the texture of the books, I knew they were expensive. She must have invested in these instead of toys.

"Finally spit it out, what are we supposed to do here?" She ignored him, just clasped her hands on the table and looked at me. “Yesterday I got a call from the guild in Potsdam. A few days ago three proles were caught there and must be brought to Historia. " Historia was a research laboratory devoted solely to researching the proles. "What kind of proles?" I wanted to know. "Three Iuba." "Iuba?" Reese frowned. "What does Historia want with three Iubas?"

I felt the absence like a cold place in the room. “Where’s Lyra?” Caleb asked without looking up. “I don’t think she’ll be joining us,” I replied, breathless. “We can wait,” Lily said. She didn’t look up from the book she held. Her voice was steady but tight. “But we don’t have time to dawdle.” Lily set the book down like it was a live thing. The cover was cracked, the pages browned and smelling of dust and old rain. When she opened it, the two of us leaned in, the others forming a loose semicircle behind.
