She tilted her head, a look of genuine pity on her glowing features. “Oh, Zara. You still think in three dimensions. How quaint.” She leaned in, her breath smelling of ozone and dead stars. “There are no aliens. There is no invasion force waiting in the sky.” What? What did that even mean? She swept her hand around the room. The walls shifted, displaying images, not of space, but of Earth. A burning Earth. Cities crumbling to dust, oceans boiling, and wolves… millions of wolves, starving, dying, their bodies withering away.

She still could not believe she was in Colter's world. Colter's confession about him not being a human and that he came from a world called Howard, seemed like a long time ago. Vida felt she was living right out of a fairytale. Who knew there existed another world with people who had super powers and could fly? Howard was nothing like Earth. The luscious greenery was something else here. Vida immediately knew just by looking at the flowers, they were magical. The air was different too. It was sweeter. Or maybe she was just used to the contaminated air of the Hudson River.

Where do humans go when they die? There exists another world, almost parallel to the human realm, known by its inhabitants, for lack of agreement on any other name, as the Otherworld. In this world exists many fantastical things, gods, and creatures of legend. Humans are reborn into this world when they die. If they were old when they passed they return to their youth, and if they were sickly they are healed, regardless of where they get sent. Humans who come to the Otherworld this way are called "Reborn"
