Adrian looked at the White Book. Its cover had changed once more. The silver letters slowly rearranged themselves. THE AUTHOR MUST CHOOSE. Then... a single page slipped free from the book. It drifted gently through the air. Adrian caught it. Unlike every other page... this one contained only a single sentence. It wasn't written in ink. It looked as though the paper itself remembered the words. He read it silently. His face turned pale. The Stranger noticed. "What did it say?" Adrian could barely breathe.

Hi, and welcome to STRANGER ATTRACTION. This is Kaelith’s story. A girl found in the woods with no memory, no past, and no name except the one given to her by the wind. She has a father she would give her life for, but her family… they are not all on her side. Her brothers want her in ways she can’t ignore, a stranger has eyes only for her, and everyone in her small town seems to have a stake in her life.

She lay down. This was her life now. For ten years. The thought made her sit up. Her heart began to race. This could not be real. This was a mistake. She was Patra Brown. She was innocent. She was not supposed to be in a cage. She got down from the bunk. She walked to the cell door. She held the cold bars. “I don’t belong here,” she whispered. The woman on the lower bunk laughed. It was a harsh sound. “Yeah. That’s what we all say.”

I felt like I could no longer hold back as the tingling sensation continued to escalate. “Why hasn’t she picked up the phone yet? I need to turn it to turbo mode.” That fool had not noticed that his girlfriend had been pinned down on the ground a short distance away. The vibration escalated. I felt a wave of warmth course through me. Inside the haystack, the man was focused on what he was doing, as though determined to explore every hidden corner. Just a few meters away, Samuel continued to pace back and forth. The situation only made me feel even more nervous.

Maybe being the son of a town hall leader puts your name a little above a pedestal. I suddenly remember the letters I’m taking with me. Its papers seem to have colored yellowish, signifying how much time has passed since it was first written. If people already knew of the location of the Kurim, then how did the waiting for its return turn into years? Do the people living here have settled enough for the life they have in this small town?
