“Fine,” he said reluctantly. “I’ll pause the execution. But this isn’t over, Lyra. If Luke’s explanation doesn’t hold up, I’ll do what needs to be done.”
Relief washed over me, and I gave him a small smile. “Thank you, Damien. That’s all I’m asking for.”
He nodded, though the tension in his shoulders didn’t ease. “Let’s prepare for the ceremony, then. We don’t have much time.”
He turned to Rowan, “Tell the event planner to use the garden behind the packhouse to set up the chairs.”
