I quickly texted Mom: Me: “Hey Mom, please check on Cutie.” Grabbing my bag, I headed out and drove straight to Linda’s house. When I got there, I honked the horn. “Linda!” I called through the window. “Hurry up, we’re late!” Her voice came from inside. “I’m coming, Lily! Just give me a second!” Moments later, Linda stepped out, brushing her hair behind her ear. She looked effortlessly pretty in her jeans and a white crop jacket. “Wow, look at you,” I said teasingly as she got in. “You really took your time.”

Cherry took a deep breath of relief and then swayed her hip to and fro as she made her way out of the hall, but before then, she didn’t fail to give a seductive look at the middle aged man who had been staring at her since she came. Matthew looked at Cherry and was unfazed, but he had a frown on his face. He wondered what Linda was up to, she was supposed to be his partner for this banquet, but she rejected it and claimed that she was having cramps when he asked her. He really suspects her, but he doesn’t have proof, because the Linda he knew will always seize the opportunity to show off. He didn’t want to see his assistant, so he had no choice but to take Cherry as his partner.

She smiled at Marie. Marie pointed at a picture on a table full of frames and ornaments a few feet away from Lindsey. ‘Leah grew up in Hollow Cove, right next door.’ Marie explained. Lindsey scanned the photos. Many were self portraits, but one was of a teenager with big curly hair which reminded her of herself when she was younger and couldn’t control her hair. Lindsey picked up the picture and squinted at it. Her blood nearly froze in her veins. ‘That picture was taken outside her house when she was thirteen.’ Marie said. Lindsey tried to shake the ice off her skin but the chill remained.

Linda remarked, noticing me, while Kira looked out of it with earphones plugged in. "Yes, I am," I said. "Brought anything else?" she asked, standing up to help me with my bags. "No, thank you," I replied. I was touched; being 181cm, Linda was tall and big, so people were often intimidated by her, but she was a real softie – kind, helpful, and very pretty. Kira took out an earbud and groaned before speaking. "Hey Christy, sorry. I swear inspiration comes and goes for me, so I have to catch it when the feeling comes."

Linda didn’t seem like just any obsessed fan, her actions far surpassing instability. Penny's steps were purposeful, her eyes scanning the shadows for any sign of movement. I could tell that she was experienced in this line of work, her instincts finely tuned to detect even the slightest anomaly. After a few simple words, he hung up. Linda was so angry that she almost vomited blood. And the cosmetic business that she wanted to do had no hope at all. She originally planned to go with Mrs. Henmy to a nearby temple that was said to be very spiritual to burn incense and pray to Buddha. Just as she was looking for that temple, she inadvertently saw Jessie and a spirited old man enter. Her mind spun and immediately blamed all of the disasters on Jessie. She immediately pulled Mrs. Henmy over and rushed in.

The laugh was light, almost musical, but it carried a sharp edge that made her skin prickle. She set the file down carefully, moving toward the window. The laugh came again, this time louder, and it was unmistakable. Linda. The garden was bathed in soft sunlight as Celine stepped outside, her eyes scanning the space. And there she was. Linda sat at a small table near the rose bushes, sipping tea from an ornate porcelain cup. Her posture was relaxed, her golden hair gleaming in the light. She looked up as Celine approached, her smile sharp and knowing.

"Delicious." As soon as the plates were cleared, Aunt Linda checked her watch. "Oh! I almost forgot. I have that hair appointment. Cherry, do you want to come? There’s a cute boutique next door for all sorts of girly accessories, you'd love it." "I’m in!" Cherry hopped up, grabbing her coat. I felt a spike of pure panic. "Wait, I can come too—" "Nonsense, Sheila. You look exhausted from the flight," Aunt Linda said, kissing my cheek. I wanted to protest that I wasn't really as exhausted as I probably looked.

But she was very kind none the less, that was exactly what Hayley needed. "Is everything alright with you two?" She asked, fully stepping out from behind the wall. Linda was very tall and slim. Anyone could tell that when she was in her prime, she could over powered anyone easily. And even now, with her grey hair chopped off in a pixie style, she probably still could. Linda was beautiful as well, even though she had wrinkles, she could still break a few hearts. "It's fine mom, just rescuing Hayley. Like always."
