Lily’s POV The rest of the day went by in a blur of emails, meetings, and trying to ignore the lingering looks from employees who were still processing the fact that Lucas Hawke was married. I could hear the whispers, the murmured conversations just out of earshot. It was clear that I was the anomaly in their well-structured world, an unexpected piece in their carefully crafted puzzle.

A book sat open in one hand, and a bundle of herbs rested in the other. Her eyes stayed locked on the page as she walked, reading like she had all the time in the world. She wasnt looking around. She didnt look afraid or like someone being held prisoner. She looked completely normal. My eyes scanned the trees again. Left. Right. Behind her. Nothing. No movement. No scent. No Lumian. I want to follow them, but I lost my strength. I swallowed hard as I looked at the window. I chewed my lower lip. All I can see is the never ending green scenery. It was like a paradise. A lonely paradise. A paradise for sorrowful soul. Hugging myself, I can only hope and pray that Lucian come with a plan. Although, I know that he will because he's smart. I'm just scared that Dylan might outsmart him, just like what he did to Jacob and to me. ~

He hooked his finger on the spine of a particularly old-looking volume and removed it, extending it toward her. Lily gripped the book in her hands, running her palm over the old leather cover. It was a book of retellings of classic Greek myths. She opened the book to somewhere in the middle, reading the header on the brown, aged page. “‘Orpheus and Eurydice,’” she read. “A love story,” he commented. “A tragic one.”

He just followed her but was hidden by a bookshelf next to the one she was checking out. She found the Native American history book and took it out of the shelf. She looked up at the other shelves if she could find some more interesting books when she found the book of “Zalmoxis.” She took it and she blinked when her heart started to pound so hard and so fast. She felt the book vibrated at her touch. She ran her tongue across her lips and looked for a table where she could sit down and scan it. She skimmed its pages while Kent followed her with a bouquet of flowers hidden behind his back. He smiled and stretched out his hand with the flowers near Elise’s face.

It was at the playground, when she’d come to pick up Lisa–the extra cute little girl I’d instantly fallen in love with the moment I laid eyes on her. “Of course I do. How‘s little Lisa?” “She’s good. And she won’t stop talking about you.” “She’s a nice kid.” I admitted, “She is,” Rose agreed, before her gaze shifted to the book in my hands. “Interesting selection,” she commented, with a small smile and I looked down at the book I'd picked. ‘Beginners Guide; How to Ruin a Man in Bed.’ Out of all the books in the library, I just had to pick this one. Heat rose to my cheeks—good thing it was hidden beneath the curtain of my hair.

Lilly 4 more days later I could hear people talking. I couldn’t make out the words but I could hear voices. I wanted to ask them to be quiet. I was really tired and just wanted to sleep. I tried to open my eyes to see them but I couldn’t do it. I tried lifting my hand but it felt so heavy I gave up. The voices were getting louder like someone was yelling. Someone sounded very mad. What was happening? Who was talking? I feel like I should know the angry voice but I could place it. Maybe a little more rest and I would be able to figure it out. Yea, I just needed some more rest.

Isla’s POV Alex didn't return until later that evening. I was still lying in bed with a book resting in my hands, trying to distract myself from everything that had happened over the past few days.
