High above the planet, in the cold, silent dark where no wolf could breathe, a jagged shadow detached itself from a nearby asteroid. It wasn't a ship. It was a mass of pale, elongated limbs and violet smoke, its "eyes" fixed on the glowing world below. The Weaver had finished her thread, but the shadow was already reaching for the scissors.

Energy in her fingers answered the darkness around them like a challenge. Then a deep rumble rose from the earth. Shadow creatures began to seep out of the cracks. They were shapeless dark beings made of smoke and shadow. The biggest was a tall two legged creature with glowing red lines across its body like embers in black coal. Its eyes burned deep red, fixed on Sky.

Wilbur moved swiftly in a blur, narrowly evading the attack. "You can't escape, Wilbur Penn. This is the Dark World. Your energy will soon be consumed," the giant said. Wilbur looked at the giant. Suddenly, the giant started to shrink, and in less than a minute, the hundred-meter giant shrunk to human size. It glared at Wilbur and kept emitting dark energy. "Damn you!"
