As I turned to respond, the lady returned with a large album in her hands. She smiled at me, wiggling her eyebrows suggestively at both of us. I glared at Michael, who looked completely relaxed and unbothered. I took the album. The first picture was of a very pretty baby in a pink dress, a crown, and a little wand. “Oh my gosh, this is so cute,” I gushed. “That’s Mikey.” My smile froze for a second before I burst into laughter. The next picture was of him in a torn yellow dress.

One minute, she was beaming with smiles at Carrie and Sabrina, the next, she was irritated by their presence. She switched again, back to the flirty Tulip. She smiled. “Do you want to use the bathroom?” Tulip asked, slowly batting her eyelashes. I blinked. I was at a loss for words.

I had given those on the team dealing with employing new workers the deadline of a day— the exact day which my former secretary got fired, and they had wonderfully delivered a fresh meat — fresh breath of air into my office. Only this time, this fresh breath of air was something else. Lilly stepped out from her small office space with the required files in her arms. She offered a small smile my way before muttering a quiet 'Good morning' under her breath before looking away from me and tucking her hair behind her ear. "Good morning, Lilly. You're with the right files, right?" I decided to ask. Lord knows how disappointed I'd be if we get to the conference hall and it turned out to be a wrong

She pushed the plate toward him. “I’m not hungry.” “Little girls have to eat.” “I’m not little!” she fired back, her face reddening. “I’m fourteen. Three candles already.” “What does that mean?” “You start with one candle when you are seven. Two when you are ten. Three—from thirteen to seventeen. And if you are really good, really dedicated to the fight, you join the Light Patrols after that. Girls, too.”

Mandy narrowed her eyes sharp at Lulu. “Okay, that’s enough,” Amara told Mandy. The latter turned red and looked away. Amara focused back to Lulu. “So what happened?” she asked. “I-I don’t know...” Lulu’s face lowered. “I felt so lost. One moment, I just woke up being ignored by everyone. I-I saw monsters eating fellow monsters. I didn’t know that they really exist. I was scared.” Tears started to build up around her eyes. “A little hope sparked inside me to see Mandy. B-But she was ignoring me. At first I thought you were doing a prank on me but it continued for hours. S-She just past by me like I was nobody. A stranger.” Her lips trembled so was her voice.

It has been long since she last roamed around so much. The park was pretty quiet since they were sitting at the far end. On the other side of the park, children were happily playing around with their parents hovering behind them. Sindhu had a small smile playing on her lips seeing them. Gautham followed her gaze and found a little girl with pigtails. She was pouting over something. "You know she reminds me of Akira," Gautham said absentmindedly. "Who is Akira??" Sindhu asked curiously, mainly because she loved kids more than anything. For her, they were the only uncorrupted form of a human.

I love her. It is then that I realize you could hear a pin drop in the place. The only sounds are my ragged breaths and her light sobs. People are awestruck including the DJ. “Come home with me, please, Little Kitten,” I plead without turning around to look at her. “I want to have fun, but you ruined it!” She shines.

Now, everything felt so fragile, so uncertain. Once they were in the car, he drove slowly towards the park, keeping the conversation light to distract the girl. "What’s your name?" "Lucy," she replied, a shy smile tugging at her lips. "Lucy, huh? That’s a pretty name. You know, I have a niece around your age. Her name’s Sophie." Lucy’s eyes brightened a little. "Really? Does she like ice cream?" Angelo chuckled. "She loves it. What about you?"

Evelyn says, she was done talking to our little girl, and we both joined her in the living room. "Where is she?" Hunter asks her. "Still in your office, she's having some time alone," she answer us. "So how did it go?" I ask her, we didn't have anyone else to call and we'll probably need her to help with the future classes. "She's sorry for throwing a tantrum, sometimes littles that are too little have harder time dealing with their big emotions," she answer us. "Too little?" Hunter ask. "You know you picked one of the youngest littles around, they are five in total, and she's one of them, she need special care," Evelynn says.
