Voices I've heard my whole life. Voices I could never escape. I want to piss myself, I want to puke, but I know that will make Mum mad. I can't stay here, in this tiny bathroom. There's no point. The lock is broken. Sometimes, if I'm quiet, if I'm really quiet, they forget I'm here, so caught up in their shit that they don't remember the little mouse hiding in the bedroom. I could go there now and hide in the wardrobe. Yes, that's what I'll do.

She heard their screams of terror and pain echoing in her ears. The nightmares were vivid and terrifying, and she couldn't escape them.
