That’s when I hear the voice I never wanted to hear again.

I look up.
Larry.
Sitting at a corner table with two friends, coffee in hand, grin spreading like he just won the lottery.
He stands up fast, chair scraping loud. “Holy shit, it’s really you.”
I don’t smile. “Larry.”
He walks over, too close, smelling like cheap cologne and entitlement. “You look… different. Good different. Where’ve you been hiding?”
I cross my arms. “Not hiding. Just living.”
